Trust the Potter

Romans 9 reminds us that God is God and we are not.
That can be difficult to accept when His plans do not match ours.
We want explanations, timelines, and guarantees.

But sometimes God gives us something even more important:
an invitation to trust His character.

Paul writes in Romans 9:21, “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?” (NIV)

Clay does not understand what the potter is creating.
It only feels the pressure of his hands,
the turning of the wheel,
and the discomfort of being reshaped.

What feels confusing to the clay is purposeful in the hands of the potter.

The hands shaping your life belong to the One who created you,
loves you, and sees the purpose He placed within you.

He does not waste the pressure, the waiting,
or even the parts of your story you would never have chosen.

You may not understand what God is forming right now,
but you can trust the heart behind His hands.

The pressure you feel is a part of the purpose God is forming.

Father, I confess that I do not always understand Your ways. Help me trust Your wisdom and surrender to Your loving hands. Shape my life into something that reflects Your heart and accomplishes Your purposes. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
