Pray for an Open Door

Sometimes we are so focused on asking God to change our circumstances that we miss what God might want to do through us in those circumstances.

In Colossians 4:3 Paul writes, “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message…”

I find this fascinating.

Paul is in prison, and he asks the church to pray for an open door.
But he isn’t primarily asking God to open the prison door.
He’s asking God to open a door for the Gospel.
That’s a powerful perspective.

Of course, we can ask God to change things.
But maybe we could also pray:
“God, while I’m here, open a door.”

Open a door for me to encourage someone.
Open a door for me to share my story.
Open a door for someone to experience Your love through me.

Don’t underestimate what God can do right where you are.
Because sometimes the open door isn’t a way out,
it’s an opportunity right where you are.

Father, open my eyes to the opportunities You place in front of me today. Use my life, my story and even my circumstances to point someone toward You. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
