What Doesn’t Fit

Have you ever put on something you used to wear and realized, “This doesn’t fit me anymore.”

Paul says there are some things that don’t fit our new life in Jesus either when he writes in Colossians 3:8-9, “But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.” (NIV)

These things may have been part of how we used to respond,
but they don’t belong to who we are becoming.

Here’s the important part:
We don’t take them off so God will love us.
We take them off because He already does.

Grace doesn’t just forgive the old life.
Grace teaches us a new way to live.

So maybe today the question isn’t just, “What do I need to stop doing?”

Maybe it is:
“Jesus, what no longer fits the person You are making me?”

Grace loves you as you are, but it never leaves you as you were.

Jesus, show me anything I am carrying that no longer belongs in my new life with You. Give me the grace to let it go. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.
