Human love can leave us feeling uncertain.
Are we enough?
Will we be rejected?
What happens if we disappoint someone?
God’s love is different because His perfect love gives us security.
1 John 4:18–19 tells us, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” (NIV)
Because Jesus took our punishment on the cross, we don’t fear punishment from God.
Because His love is perfect towards us we are set free from fear.
Because you now are fully known, completely loved, and safely held by Him.
The more deeply we understand God’s love,
the less room fear has to control us.
We no longer have to live desperate for approval or be afraid of rejection.
We can love others freely because we are no longer asking them to give us what we have already received from God.
God’s love does not simply comfort us, it changes us.
His love becomes the secure place from which we
forgive, serve, risk, and love others.
God’s love does not leave us fearful,
it empowers us to freely love others.
Human love may leave you uncertain,
God’s love holds you secure.
Father, let Your perfect love fuel my heart today. Help me live securely as Your beloved child and freely share with others the love You have given me. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
