Not Based on Performance

Many of us have learned to connect love with performance.
Be good enough.
Do enough.
Don’t disappoint anyone.
Keep everyone happy.

Without realizing it we can easily bring that
same thinking into our relationship with God.

We imagine He loves us more on our good days and less when we struggle.
But the cross tells us something completely different.

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (NIV)

Jesus did not wait for us to become worthy of His love.
He came for us while we were still sinners.

Before we could fix ourselves.
Before we cleaned ourselves up,
Before we proved we were good enough to be loved by Him.

Why?

Because God’s love is rooted in who He is,
not in how well you perform.

You will never have to earn His love.

You can only believe it,
receive it,
and allow it to transform you.

God did not wait for you to become lovable before He loved you.
He loves you.
Let Him.

Father, thank You that Your love for me is not based on my performance. Help me release the pressure to prove myself and rest in what Jesus has already done for me. In Jesus Powerful Name, Amen.
