Jesus had a teaching moment with His disciples that is easy to miss and easy to misunderstand.
On the way to the Temple, Jesus came to a fig tree that was advertising that it had fruit with its full leaves. When He checked it, the tree had none and Jesus is not a fan of false advertising.
Jesus spoke to the fig tree: “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” (Mark 11:14 NIV)
On the way back, his friends saw that it had withered to its roots and was utterly dead.
The world says fake it until you make it but God is not okay with us pretending that everything is okay when it is not.
He would rather that we would be honest.
God meets you where you are, not where you wish you were.
My friend, you do not ever have to “fake it until you make it” with God.
Be honest with where you are and ask God to meet you there.
He will.
