The Power of Yes

“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4:7 ‭MSG‬‬

Don’t underestimate the power of a quiet yes to Jesus.

A quiet yes whispered in surrender and hope.

A quiet yes, because Jesus hears you even if you whisper.

A loud NO, because the enemy doesn’t.

The temptation to listen to the lies of the enemy is strong because he is repeating to you the lies you already believe are true.

Yell a loud “NO!” to the lies and a quiet yes to the truth of God’s love for you.

When you call out to Jesus, He will show up.

Today is your day to shout:

“No, I won’t settle for less.”

“No, I won’t quit.”

“No, I will not shrink back, I will push forward.”

My friend, don’t settle for less than what God has for you.

Call out to Jesus today.

Don’t underestimate the power of a quiet yes.

A quiet yes spoken with conviction.

A quiet yes whispered in surrender.

A quiet yes of obedience to make a 180 degree turn around in your life.

A quiet yes when He asks you to not settle for good when Jesus wants great things for you.

A quiet yes, because Jesus hears you even if you whisper.

A loud NO, because the enemy doesn’t.

The temptation to listen to the lies of the enemy is strong because he is telling you the lies you already believe.

Today is your day to shout:

Don’t settle for less than what God has for you.

What is your quiet yes for today?

Yes to the Adventure

yes to god
“I am the Lordʼs servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Have you ever thought that if you knew what was about to happen in your life that you would handle it better? How many times have you wished that the Lord would show up and just tell you what was about to happen?
Mary had that opportunity.
The Lord showed up and told her what her story would be by sending an angel to let her in on what part she would play in history:
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
Luke 1: 30-33 NIV
Mary would be rejected before she was accepted, desperate before she was provided for, slandered long before she was ever believed. Her life was no longer about her story but it was about God’s story thru her life.
She said, “May your word to me be fulfilled”.
Mary said yes to God knowing that it would be hard. She decided to trust God when things were not happening the way she thought they would.
She decided to follow God when others would not understand or believe her.
She knew that it would not be easy and she said yes.
I believe it is the great mercy of God that He leads us one step at a time.
I believe it will be harder than you thought it would be but more worth it than you can imagine.
Don’t be afraid. When you follow Jesus, your life is no longer about living “your” story but it is about letting God tell His story through your life.
You will never really know what God can do through you until you say yes to the adventure of following Him wherever He leads.
Be brave.
Say yes.

Learn to Say No

leadership-quotes-the-art-of-leadership-is-saying-no-not-yes-it-is-very-easy-to-say-yes-tony-blair-wisdom-quotes

“Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ be ‘No.”’

Matthew 5:37 NKJV

No.

A simple answer but rarely an easy one.

At some point, you will need to say NO to good things so you can say YES to the things God is calling you to.

For those who are challenged by saying “NO”, here are ten different ways to say it:

1. I would prefer another option.

2. I would love to say yes to everything, but that would be stupid.

3. Someone would be awesome at this, I am not that person.

4. Some things have come up that need my attention.

5. We should rethink this.

6. My instincts tell me I’m just not suitable for this.

7. It would cause the slow withering death of my soul.

8. Um, no.

9. My plate is already full but I will be happy to suggest somebody else’s plate to put it on.

10. No, I’m doing all I can right now but thank you for giving me the opportunity.

What do you need to say “NO” to in order to make room for the right “Yes”?

In Season

2b3f726655fd7ef660881e95d833b460--surrender-to-god-jesus-quotes

There are seasons of life that you are where you are supposed to be and doing what you are supposed to be doing. You are “in” season. You are inspired, motivated and moving forward.

Then there are seasons when you feel downright out of it. You are not where you want to be and not doing what you think you should be doing. You are in an “out” season. You are discouraged, unmotivated and stuck.

God will use you in both.

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ NIV

In fact, it is often the seasons that knock you to your knees that impact other people the most:

  • When the diagnosis doesn’t shake your faith.
  • When you face a hard time but it doesn’t harden your heart.
  • When you are brave in the face of uncertainty and transparent as you lean on God for strength.

Be prepared to walk with God in the good times and bad, easy seasons and hard ones because God is prepared to walk with you through it all.

If you are available, He will use you to minister to those around you.

God’s love is always in season, may you be filled with it today.

“I am the Lordʼs servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭NIV‬‬
How many times have you wished that the Lord would show up and just tell you what was about to happen? You think that maybe if you knew what would happen, you would be better prepared to handle it.
Mary had that opportunity.
The Lord showed up and told her what her story would be.
She would be “the virgin” of Isaiah 7:14 and Mary being the good Jewish girl that she was would know what that meant.
It is one thing to know what it means and another to live through it.
She would be rejected before she was accepted, desperate before she was provided for, slandered long before she was ever believed.
She knew the road before her would not be easy and that the story she had imagined for her life would be drastically different…but she said yes.
She said, “May your word to me be fulfilled”.
She said yes to God knowing that it would be hard.
She decided to trust God when things were not happening the way she thought they would.
She decided to follow God when others would not understand or believe her.
I believe it is the great mercy of God that He leads us one step at a time.
I believe God has a plan for your life and is able to bring it to pass.
I believe it will be harder than you thought it would be but more worth it than you can imagine.
Don’t be afraid. God will empower you to walk in His purposes and guide you faithfully through every challenge that comes.
You will never really know what God can do through you unless you say yes to Him.
Be brave. Say yes.

Real Freedom

img_8315

Real freedom isn’t saying yes to everything, it means being able to say no when you need to.

No to the things that sabotage your peace.

No to the things that undercut your strength.

No to the thoughts that lead you to that dark place.

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,”

Titus 2:11-13 NIV

It also means saying no to people.

Saying “no” can be hard to say when you have used “yes” for so long to please the people around you but you are not here to please the people around you, you are set free to please God.

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Galatians 1:10 NIV

Saying yes to God sometimes means saying no to others.

Say no today out of a place of strength, vision and confidence knowing who you are in Christ.

What or who do you need to say no to today in order to be who God has set you free to be?

Cautious Living

aab8c85b47560accda2704f24aba2d6b

I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.”

“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:25 MSG‬‬

When God invests in you, puts something in your hands, in your heart or in your personality, He expects you to do something with it.

This verse says it’s criminal to live cautiously with God given-investments.

The third servant in the story took what his master gave him and “dug a hole and buried it” (vs16).

Beth Moore says “Sometimes, we can protect ourselves right out of our calling.”

Cautious Living is a crime in God’s eyes.

He loves you passionately and wants you to boldly get to work the visions, gifts, and callings that He has given you.

You may be asking God to give you more…but he may be asking, “What are you doing with what I’ve already given you?”

What has God invested in you?

What have you buried in fear?

What does it look like to multiply what God has invested in you?

Yes, This

“I am the Lordʼs servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭NIV‬‬
May your word to me be fulfilled.
Yes, this.

She said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled”.
Yes, this:
– Saying yes when you know it will be hard.
– Trusting God when things are not happening the way you thought they would.
– Following God when He leads you to stop what you’re doing with no discernible reason.
I believe it is the great mercy of God that He leads us one step at a time.
I believe God has a plan for your life and is able to bring it to pass.
I believe it will be harder than you thought it would be but more worth it than you can imagine.
Yes, this.

You will never really know what God can do through you unless you say yes to Him like this.
