Distractions

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”

Luke 12:25, 26 NIV

Small worries can become big distractions.

They distract you from living loved and loving fearlessly.

If it is something within your power to change, ask Jesus to give you the courage to change it.

If it is something out of your control, something you have no power to change, ask Jesus to meet you in the place of your fear and give you the power to release it to Him.

Jesus is bigger than your fear and able to provide what you need.

May a small worry be transformed into a powerful moment to release and trust in the One who holds the universe (and you) in the palm of His hand.

What are you worried about today, my friend?

What To Do With Worry

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭

NIV

Do you know what to do with worry?

Here, God says to cast it all on Him.

What does that mean?

Cast means to toss. You can’t throw something without letting it go.

All means to give Jesus every irrational fear, every overwhelming worry, as they come to you.

Your anxiety means not to deny it but to name it. What is the fear underneath the worry? Name it, acknowledge it, feel it – then cast it to God.

Anxiety – the greek word used here literally means to be drawn in two different directions and be torn apart by it.

On Him – where do you put that which is tearing you apart? Put it into the hands of Jesus. He is strong enough to handle it.

Why?

Because He Cares – and it means Jesus is “caring right now in this present moment”, whatever you are dealing with

For You – yes, YOU.

What are you suppossed to do with worry?

Look at it, name it then cast it totally on God and ask Him take care of you as you deal with it.

Worried?

What are you worried about today?

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down.  It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Philippians 4:6-7 MSG

Worry is not meant to be the center of your life.

Jesus is.

Worry will keep you distracted and you will miss the small moments of joy that are sent by God to let you know He loves you.

His love for you is better than worry.

Love is a better way to make decisions than fear.

Instead of worrying, pray.

Put it in God’s capable hands.

Hand over what you are worrying about to Jesus right now.

Then allow a sense of God’s wholeness to fill your soul.

Then get busy loving the people He has placed in your life.

What is worry stealing from you today?

Wholeness

“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.

The One who called you is completely dependable.

If he said it, he’ll do it!”

1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:23-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Wholeness takes time.

Abundant life in Christ includes abundant rest in Him.

Resting from trying to figure it all out.

Resting from worrying yourself sick.

Resting from trying to control everything and have the answers for everything.

Take a deep breath, slow down.

The very best thing you can do is rest in Him.

Let Jesus work.

God knows real change takes time.

Rest in Him today and give yourself permission to stop worrying about things you can’t control.

Do Not Fret

“Do not fret”.     ‭‭
Psalm‬ ‭37:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is a command, not a suggestion.

Why?

Because fretting or incessant worrying steals your focus, burns up your energy and leaves you with a crispy attitude.

The word for fret is “charah” in Hebrew.

It is a word picture of something that burns until it is charred.

It means to be kindled with a spark of anxiety or worry then whip it up into an inner frenzy and feed it facts or wonderings until it is a voracious fire in your soul that burns long and hot like oil fires in the desert.

What is the best thing to do when a spark of fear ignites a frenzy of anxiety?

Stop, drop and roll:

 – Stop the thoughts.
 – Drop to your knees.
 – Roll in God’s love for you.
 – Repeat as needed.

“Quiet down before God, be prayerful before him. Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder, who elbow their way to the top.  Bridle your anger, trash your wrath, cool your pipes—it only makes things worse.”

Psalm 37:7-8 MSG

What are you worried about today, my friend?

Is it something that is in your hands to change or something out of your control?

If it is something within your power to change, I am asking Jesus to give you the courage to do it. To step out in faith, following His leading and do what you can do.

If it is something out of your control, something you have no power to change, I am asking Jesus to meet you in the place of your fear and give you the power to release it to Him. You may not have the power to change it but He does.

Jesus is bigger than your fear and able to provide what you need.

No Lip Service Needed

“These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

Isaiah 29:13 NIV

In a relationship, lip service does no one any good. Not in your relationship with Jesus, yourself or anyone else.

It is better to be honest with what is going on and how you are feeling.

That is the only way any relationship thrives.

Do you feel stuck or numb in your relationship with Jesus?

First, check how tired you are, you may need to rest before you can receive. Receiving the forgiveness, love, grace and mercy that Jesus gives you takes energy – rest as needed.

Then be honest with where you are at and how you feel.

No lip service needed.

The Peace of His Presence

Monday

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 NIV

Is worry ruling your life?

There are a lot of things to worry about right now.

Some of them are things you worry about all the time.

Some of them are things that are brand new.

Either way, you can collect worry like it’s your job or you can build a tower of God’s peace around your soul.

You have peace with God through Jesus Christ and because of that, you can receive peace from God in and for every situation.

Out of all the decisions you have to make today, the most important one will be if you choose to hold on to God’s peace or your worry.

May His presence calm your heart and fill you with His peace today.
