Small Sentences

Hello my friend, have time for some coffee? This cup is brought to you from the Origianal Pancake House in Rocklin, Ca. I loved going there with my husband for breakfast dates or celebrating with family who came to visit or getting pancakes with the boys or meeting with a friend to catch up.

I’ve been thinking lately about how small things can be big difference makers.

Things like small sentences:

Don’t give up.

I forgive you.

I love you.

I miss you.

Pray for me.

Go for it.

You matter.

Forgive me.

Let go.

Which sentence do you need to say today to someone?

Jesus used small sentences to change people’s lives:
Follow me.

Your sins forgiven.

Stand up and walk.

I am he.

Pray like this.

Be healed.

Which one do you need to hear from Jesus?
Sometimes, the most important things are said (and heard) in the smallest of sentences. Use them, receive them and have a wonderful day.

Quiet Words

If you are looking for advice, ask the quiet person you respect and admire.

Ask the one who knows you and knows Jesus.

Ask the one who doesn’t offer their opinion at every opportunity but rather waits for permission to speak into your life.

Be brave. Ask the questions you need answers to. If they are wise, they are safe. Seek them out.

If they are loud, manipulative, believe they are always right and get mad when you don’t do what they say…avoid them.

“The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded than the shouts of a ruler of fools.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes ‬ ‭9:17 NIV‬

What do you need wisdom for today?

Who has God put in your path to help you?

Don’t let fear stop you from getting guidance.

It can literally help change your life for the better.

You are worth it.

Do you need wisdom today?
Ask God for it.

He see’s what we do not see.

He knows what we do not know.

He, himself is the variable that makes the impossible possible.

“But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ NLT)

You will be tempted to compare God’s wisdom to what everyone else is doing but don’t. If you do that, your emotions take you into a storm of doubt and fear.

Put your faith in God alone and be faithful to what He has given you to do.

Don’t allow your mind and emotions to waver back and forth.

Choose to be unflinchingly loyal to God’s wisdom and undivided in your faith.

You don’t need to know exactly what will happen. You need to know that whatever happens, God will give you what you need to get through it.

Lead With Your Ears

Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear.

God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage.

In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life. (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭19-21‬ MSG)

We tend to do the opposite: anger rises up, we lead with our mouths then follow with our ears.

We speak before we listen and defend before we understand.

You don’t have to allow anger to dictate your reactions or our words and you don’t have to prove you are right.

Being humble is leading with your ears and trying to understand someone else’s point of view.

Being humble is asking for God’s help and advice in how to respond to it.

Being wise is following His advice and putting it into practice.

Wisdom Needed

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5 NIV)

Why ask?

Because you need an answer you don’t have. Because you need a solution you can’t see. Because you need help.

Because until this very moment you didn’t know what to ask for. Now that the challenge is upon you, it is time to ask for God’s wisdom to go through it.

Why wisdom?

Because you need wisdom more than you need knowledge. You know stuff, you know things, you need the wisdom to know what to do with what you know.

Why generously?

Because you feel like you are asking too much and for too much.

But you are not. Ask for all you need and as much as you need with no limits that it is too much. It is not too much for God.

God gives generously.

It will be given to you.

Ask for wisdom.

Then do something with what you get.

Put it into action and ask again.

The first thing I want you to do is pray. (‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭1-3‬ MSG)

Before you do anything about it, pray.

Pray first.

Not after your have worried yourself sick.

Not after you have gone around and gotten everyone’s opinion.

Not after you have tried and failed.

But first.

Before you have that conversation.

Before you jump to the next conclusion.

Before you make the ultimatum.

Pour your heart out to God and ask Him to pour His heart into you.

What do you need to pray about today?

Stay Where You Are

If where you are is boring, stay there.

If where you are is overwhelming, stay there.

If where you are is fun, stay there.

If where you are is challenging, stay there.

Stay where you are called to be because no matter where that is, God is there with you.

That means He will give you
strength to stand the monotony,
wisdom to navigate the stress,
clarity to get the most out of the fun and vision to conquer the challenge.

Lot of people have lots of opinions about what you should do and who you should be.

“All of you, slave and free both, were once held hostage in a sinful society. Then a huge sum was paid out for your ransom.

So please don’t, out of old habit, slip back into being or doing what everyone else tells you.

Friends, stay where you were called to be. God is there. Hold the high ground with him at your side.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭23-24‬ MSG)

Look to God for your identity, your purpose and the strength to live it out.

Stay where you are.
