Unclinched Fists

“I pray to GOD —my life a prayer— and wait for what he’ll say and do.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭130:5-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

What does it mean to pray with open hands?

It means that instead of trying to hold on so desperately to what you are afraid of letting go of – you let it go and give it to God.

Trust God with it.

Present your requests, heartache, fears and hurts to Him and then let Him do what only He can do – the impossible.

Release your expectations of how you want Him to  answer while at the same time knowing that He will answer you.

He is for you.

He wants to heal you.

He wants to  transform your life.

He wants to.

He will – if you allow Him to.

If you trust Him enough to say yes when He asks you to do the next hard thing.

That thing that you have been putting off but know is the right thing. The thing you don’t think you have the strength to do.

He will give you the strength to do it.

Go ahead – unclinch your fists of fear and give them to God.

Open you hands in faith and receive His stregth to do it.

What are you afraid of today?

How hard is it for you to leave the results to God?

New Wardrobe

God’s plan is transform your life.

He wants to do such a redeeming work in you that nothing from your old life fits anymore. Not your old habits, old coping mechanisms, old go-to reactions or even old self talk.

He doesn’t want to simply give you a few new skills to slap onto old habits, or new ideas to add onto your old ones.

He wants to change your life- all of it.

He wants to change how you see it, how you treat it and how you deal with it. He wants to change you from the inside out.

Jesus hasn’t paid such a high price to redeem you to God so that he could “patch up” your life, but so he could give you a brand new one.

He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. (Luke 5:36 NIV)

He wants to help you “clean out your closet” and then give you the keys to a brand new wardrobe- his.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12 NIV)

You must dress yourself everyday. You take responsibility for it…but instead of going back into your old closet, head into God’s. What does he have for you to wear?

It’s not about trying harder. It is about asking for help. Let God choose what you wear, inside and out. He is your best life advisor.
