One Thing is Needed

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:41‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The amazing thing about grace is that it immediately lifts the burden of “everything that should be done” and replaces it with the “one thing that needs to be done”.
What is that “one thing”?
It is sitting at the feet of Jesus. Begin there.
Drop your to-do list, close your eyes and take some time to sit with Jesus.
Being with Jesus does wonderful things to your priorities- it lines them right up.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me.
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
When you sit at the feet of Jesus, time stops and eternity enters.
Let eternity in.
Then tackle your lists.

Priority

Did you know that when the word “priority” was introduced and used in English that is was not plural? It was was only singular as in “what is your top priority or your priority for today?

Over time, it became plural as now we have five top priorities rather than one. Our culture is now more about trying to figure what is the top priority out of the five top things that must be done today.

I vote that we make priority singular again, especially now as we are waist deep in the holiday season.

I don’t know about you, but it is so easy for me to fall prey to “just surviving” and then being sucked into everyone else’s crisis of the moment and it ramps up even more during this season.

Along with the sweet memories being made during the holidays comes the stress of added parties, stretched finances, being exhausted and days that fly by in the blink of an eye.

It is so easy to forget that if you are empty, you will have nothing to give others. Before you make your to-do list today put time with God in the number one spot.

Make your relationship with God your first and only priority. Spend some time with your Dad. Let Him love you.

“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”

Matthew 6:30-33 MSG

Today, may your soul be filled with His presence and may your heart be overflowing with His love.

Spend some time just being His kid and you will be pleasantly surprised by how that changes everything.

Happy Monday!

When Time Stops

Being overwhelmed isn’t an emotion I like to have. There are always too many things to do and not enough time to do them.  The amazing thing about grace is that it immediately lifts the burden of “everything that should be done” and replaces it with the “one thing that needs to be done “.  What is that “one thing”? It is sitting at the feet of Jesus. Begin there.

Today’s To Do’s

Do more than survive today, enjoy it.

Do more than endure it, embrace it.

Trust more, worry less.

Authentically connect with someone.

Delegate what you can,
Pour your heart into what you can’t.

Walk in the embrace of God’s grace.

Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master.

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I wanted to remind you to set the priority of who you are over what you do.

You are God’s child, cherished, loved and embraced by Jesus.

Give yourself permission to fill your heart with adoration and your spirit with worship this morning.

Then begin.

Priorities

I suppose that if it was easy to keep the most important thing on the top of our priority list, then we wouldn’t even need a list. I don’t know about you, but it is so easy for me to fall prey to “just surviving” and then being sucked into everyone else’s crisis of the moment. It ramps up even more during the holiday season. Along with the sweet memories being made during the holidays comes the stress of added parties, stretched finances, winter flus and colds (I am being hunted by a cold as I write this, ugh) and days that fly by in the blink of an eye.

It is so easy to forget that if you are empty, you will have nothing to give others. We need to be reminded that before you make your to do list, put time with God in the number one spot.

Seek first his kingdom.

“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Matthew 6:30-33 MSG)

May your soul be filled with his presence and may your heart beoverflowing with his love. Ask him to show you his perspective of your day and you will be pleasantly surprised by how that changes everything.

Unashamed Dependance

Don’t you just love Monday mornings? Nah, me neither. This week my calendar is packed with the Thrive Conference at Bayside of Granite Bay and Justin’s Birthday on Friday. He is going to be 12 years old, my little miracle child. When I look at a week like this, the question that hovers is, “How am I going to get everything done?” Okay, I ask myself this question no matter what my week looks like. Nonetheless, how am I going to do it?

Let me tell you how: one thing at a time. One day at a time. I don’t know if I will get everything done I want to, but I know that I have a Savior that will walk with me through it. I have a Shepard to guide me and give me what I need, when I need it.

” When some basic need is lacking- time, energy, money- consider yourself blessed. Your very lack is opportunity to latch onto Me in unashamed dependance. When you begin a day with inadequate resources, you must concentrate your efforts on the present moment. This is where you are meant to live- in the present; it is the place where I will always await you. Awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing, training you to rely wholeheartedly on Me.”

Jesus Calling , April 30th by Sarah Young

What a refreshing perspective. Yes, today I will be unashamedly dependent on God.

For some of you, your days are not busy with work but they are busy with waiting.

For some of you, your days are not filled with places to go but are filled with the mundane monotony of daily duties at home.

For some of you, your challenge comes not in working hard but in resting well.

No matter what your day is filled with, busy or slow, going or staying, working or resting…you have a Savior who longs for you to lean on Him. To take it moment by moment and allow Him to give you what you need when you need it.

How are you going to do what you need to do today?
By taking it one thing at a time, one day at a time, one moment at at time in unashamed dependance on God.

Oh, to see your lack as a great blessing- that is when the Kingdom of God is truly released in your life!

“He has given us all that it takes to live in our present circumstances and relationships”
– Ray Steadman

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
(Psalm 23:1 NIV)

What a blessing you are to me and I appreciate every comment you leave -it is a connecting point I don’t take for granted. Thank you and have a blessed unashamedly God dependent day!
