No Lip Service Needed

“These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

Isaiah 29:13 NIV

In a relationship, lip service does no one any good. Not in your relationship with Jesus, yourself or anyone else.

It is better to be honest with what is going on and how you are feeling.

That is the only way any relationship thrives.

Do you feel stuck or numb in your relationship with Jesus?

First, check how tired you are, you may need to rest before you can receive. Receiving the forgiveness, love, grace and mercy that Jesus gives you takes energy – rest as needed.

Then be honest with where you are at and how you feel.

No lip service needed.

Time to Thrive

Friday.2
Your motives are the “why” behind the “what” of your life.
When you are soul drained, your “why” is to survive, to make it through one more day.
Survival is a good “why” but it is not meant to be your permanent state of being.
God has more for you today.
He is the God of inside workings, attitude makeovers, perspective shifters.
He is the forgiving God, the wipe the slate clean and start over God.
He is the miracle-making God and the create something out of nothing God.
Your Heavenly Father created you in love, to love, and to be loved.
God so loved you that He sent His Son as a sacrifice to restore you to Himself.
He didn’t do it out of duty, He did it out of love.
He does not live out of duty but out of love and wants the same for you.
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NIV
When your why comes from love it feeds your spirit and invigorates your soul.
May the God of the inside workings move you from surviving to thriving.
May the forgiving God wipe clean the slate of the past and help you start over today.
May the miracle-making God, create something out of nothing and fill you up with so much of His love that it overflows onto all those around you.
Are you living in survival mode or love mode?

Living Pilgrimage

A pilgrimage is defined as a journey to a sacred place.

When you are pursuing a thriving relationship with God, you are not just on a pilgrimage, you are living one.

“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭84:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Every place you invite God into becomes a sacred place.

Your home.

Your job.

Your relationships.

The pilgrimage for a Christian is not to go somewhere that God has been but to allow God to be with you where you are right now.

In your weakness.

In your bitterness.

In your frail humanity.

Into the reality of your life.

Jesus comes in and gives you what you do not deserve but cannot live without. He gives you love, forgiveness, strength, peace, joy, hope and eventually eternity.

Where do you need to invite Jesus into today?

Your Why

“We justify our actions by appearances; GOD examines our motives.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:2‬ ‭MSG‬‬
God examines your motives because they are the “why” behind the “what”. When you are soul drained, the simplest tasks can begin to feel like heavy burdens.  You slip into auto pilot and just go through the motions.  Your “why” is to survive, to make it through one more day.
Survival is a good “why” to make it through hard things but it is not meant to be your permanent state of being.

May the God of the inside workings give your attitude a makeover from duty doer to lit up lover.  May the forgiving God wipe clean the slate of the past and help you start over today.  May the miracle making God, create something out of nothing and fill you so full of His love that it overflows onto those around you.

What’s your why today?

Survive

A grasping person stirs up trouble, but trust in GOD brings a sense of well-being. If you think you know it all, you’re a fool for sure; real survivors learn wisdom from others.

Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭25-26‬ MSG

Mankind’s definition of surviving is:

Do whatever it takes.
Grab whatever you can.
Serve yourself first.
Learn from other’s mistakes.

God’s definition of surviving is:

Trust Him.
Give whatever you can.
Serve others first.
Learn from other’s success.

How are you going to survive today?

Your Why

Life in this world lends itself to sucking the life out of you. Siphoning the joy. Destroying the delight.

A few heartbreaks later and your life is lived from duty and drudgery.

Sometimes survival dictates just going through the motions and living your life on auto pilot. When you are soul drained the simplest tasks begin to feel like heavy burdens.

God wants more for you.

“We justify our actions by appearances; GOD examines our motives.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God examines your motives because they are the why behind the what.

Survival is a good why to make it through hard things but it is not meant to be a permanent state of being.

He created you in love, to love and to be loved. God so loved that He sent His Son as a sacrifice to restore you to this love relationship.

He did not do it out of duty, He did it out of love. He does not live out of duty but out of love and wants the same for you.

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

Surviving

    Learn from other’s mistakes.

God’s definition of surviving is:

You don’t have to live your life grabbing for whatever you can.

Trust God.

Work smarter, not harder.

Normal

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/f36/11465796/files/2015/01/img_0009.jpg

There is no such as normal.
There is routine, there is what you are used to, there “how things used to be”, but there is no normal.

Life changes, jobs change, children grow, new seasons of life come whether you are prepared for them or not.

Don’t worry about being “normal” or working to get things “back to normal”.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong”. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭16-17‬ NLT)

Focus on trusting in Jesus.

Give him room in your heart and let him live through you.

Everything can change and you will be okay when you are centered on God.

Let go of trying to figure out how to get back to your “normal”.

New seasons bring new normals but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Draw your security from God today and dig in to get the most from this new time in your life.

Yes & No

20140715-212931-77371920.jpg

All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. (Matthew 5:37 NIV)

Simply say yes.

Or

Simply say no.

Whatever you choose to say, mean it. Back it up with action.

Before you say yes, make sure you can do it.

If you are not sure you can or if you are saying yes to please someone else- simply say no (and stick to it).

You don’t have to explain it or excuse it, just be ready to live with whichever one you choose to say.

Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
