Glory and Gratitude

There are two things that will keep your thinking clear and your hearts filled with God’s divine love: giving God glory and giving God thanks.

“For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ NIV

You can know God and still get in a mental habit of worry and fear.

When you make thanksgiving and worship a daily necessity you are fortifying your spiritual life and strengthening your mental one.

It is the difference between enduring and embracing your life.

It is replacing with worry with worship and fear with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving for what you have instead of dwelling on what you are afraid of losing.

Jesus died and rose again so that you can invite God into those places.

What are you thankful for today?

How will you worship Jesus today?

A Seed

dandelion-quotes-and-sayings-4-2

We try to hold it all together and hold on to our lives so fiercely when the very best thing is to let it go.

Let it change.

Let God have it all to do with as He wants.

We try to avoid situations that crush us but God will use those very things to unlock the amazing potential that He has put there.

He will use it to loosen our grip on this life and show us that there is so much more to life than we can imagine.

Seeds are made to be planted, crushed, broken and nourished to grow.

So are we.

“I tell you the truth unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.”

‭‭John‬ ‭12:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A seed is a small packet of untapped life that will stay small with unknown potential until it is buried in the dark earth, crushed by the weight and broken open. Only then does the life within it break free to grow into what it was originally intended to become.

It goes against what we think of Christianity until you look at the cross.

Until you look at the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. His glory wrapped in flesh, his body broken and crushed by our sin, three days in the dark grave only to rise and change the course of history. To redeem humanity. To rescue the drowning and restore fallen mankind to God.

In our attempt to hold onto “our” lives, we may miss the great blessing of them. We may rob others of the impact Christ can have through us because we want to live our life, our way:  safe, secure, planned, ordered.

But the moment we give our lives to Christ and He becomes Lord, it changes. It is no longer our life but His. No longer our ways but His. Not safe, not secure, not planned but we are planted, crushed and broken. Then nourished to break through and become all Jesus has made us for.

This thing that is crushing you just may be God’s way of planting you right smack dab in the middle of His plan for your life.

Let go of your plans and hold fiercely to His love.

The very best is yet to come.

Have an amazing Monday my friend.

Unsung Weapon

Peace.

Not man’s definition which usually means not being in any conflict of any kind but God’s definition which means experiencing supernatural peace in the midst of great conflict.

“Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I don’t give to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be troubles and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV

The peace God provides is the peace He produces and the peace He abides in.

Jesus said, “My peace I give you“.

Like salvation is a gift you receive (not earn) and love is experienced in relationship, God’s peace is a gift from Him and experienced with Him. He invites you into His presence and embraces you in His arms when you need it most.

“And the peace which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philipians 4:7 NIV

Stop worrying. Stop striving. Stop freaking out. Stop going over the situation over and over and over. Receive God’s peace. The kind that just destroys the enemies attacks of discouragement and discontentment.

God’s peace was hard fought for but not by you. It was fought for on the cross until the fight was finished and Jesus prevailed.

You must have peace with God before you can have God’s peace reign in your life.

The good news, the gospel of peace, is that peace with God and peace from God is available to everyone because of the cross.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Stand firm then.

The peace of God is one of the most powerful spiritual weapons that God gives us and against it the enemy has nothing.

Obliterate the enemies strategy to stop you- walk in peace from God.

Then be ready to be a vessel of gospel of peace to someone in your life who feels like they are in the middle of the war. They are.

Belonging

Blessing accompanies belonging.

“Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭144‬:‭15‬ NIV)

When you belong to God, you get His blessings.

Blessings are a by-product of the relationship. He is not just giving you random blessings but sharing His blessings as well: divine peace, security, forgiveness, unconditional love as well as His perspective.

God belongs to You.

Belonging is a two way street and you bless Him.

You bless Him with your unique view of the word, the way you love people, your sense of humor, your creativity and your gifts.

And there is more.

God takes all of you.

He has taken upon Himself your faults, your sin, your fears, your issues. He takes them to the Cross where Christ has stripped them of power and authority. Because of the Cross, you are no longer bound by them or to them.

You can take ALL of Him.

You are empowered by the Cross to receive His new mercies, new vision, a new attitude, new faith, and new life.

It is not a magic trick, it is a relationship.

It is not like a video game “cheat code” that jumps you past all the hard parts to win at the end.

God begins where you are and walks with you all the way to the end.

You belong to God and He belongs to you.

Blessed is the people of who this is true.
