Hem Me In

Hem me in your love, O God.

“You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You may feel like you are on your own to deal with life.

That you are on your own to deal with stress.

On your own to make it happen, whatever “it” is, but you are not on your own, you are God’s beloved child.

His love goes before you and his grace follows behind you.

You are cherished and provided for, guided and anointed to walk confidently in God’s love.

God goes before you to make a way where there seems to be no way, He sets up divine appointments for you to walk in and he brings people across your path that need you.

He blesses you with what you need to do what He has called you to do.

His hand of blessing is on your head. He has hemmed you in His love.

That means in ALL that you do, big or small, his hand of blessing is on it- because his hand of blessing is on you.

My prayer for you is that you will begin to see yourself in the light of God’s passionate love for you:

He has chosen you.
Rescued you.
Provided for you.
Forgiven you.
Equipped you.
Goes before you.
Follows up after you.

God’s love is not like man’s love. He is not controlling you, He is surrounding you with Himself and there is more freedom in his presence than anywhere else in the world.

“For in him we live and move and have our being.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Jesus, you have permission to live fully in God’s grace and walk confidently with His hand of blessing on you.

You are beloved and surrounded by Him. Set your fear aside and walk confidently in His love today.

Location, Location, Location

I just wanted to remind you that God is not limited to location.

You can pray where ever you are because wherever you are, God is there.

He is not limited to a time or a space.

You can pray in your room, in your car, in the kitchen or at your job.

You can pray for minutes or for hours.

The world you live in may not be aware of God but God is aware of your world.

What are experiencing right now?

What are you dealing with?

What do you need God’s help with?

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.”

Ephesians‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭NLT‬

Don’t stress about it, pray about it.

What are the things you are stressed about?

Jesus put stress in two categories:

1. Worries about all the things you have to do.

2. Worry about all the things you want to get.

“The seed cast in the weeds represents the ones who hear the kingdom news but are overwhelmed with worries about all the things they have to do and all the things they want to get.

The stress strangles what they heard, and nothing comes of it. (Mark 4:18, 19 MSG)

A stress-filled life strangles the power of God’s Word in you. It makes it like a dormant seed unable to break out of it’s shell . It can not grow to become the formidable, fruit-bearing, Spirit reproducing Word it is meant to be.

You hear the Word of God and it is exactly what you need. But then you begin thinking of all you need to do and all the things you don’t have and soon you have forgotten that Word.

Don’t let stress to undermine the revelation of God’s powerful Word in your life.

Don’t let your to-do lists to dictate your time in the Word, get in the Word and let it dictate your to-do lists.

Just as stress strangles the Word, so the Word strangles stress. It just matters which one comes first.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33-34‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The key is in what your are seeking.

Break up with stress.

Embrace God’s presence and go after his kingdom- he will take care of the rest.

Life is hard work. What God has given you to do is hard work. It is valuable and important but God never promised it would be easy.

How you do your work is what will change the experience of it from stress to passion.

“If you preach, just preach God’s Message, nothing else; if you help, just help, don’t take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching; if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don’t get bossy; if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate; if you’re called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don’t let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them.

Keep a smile on your face. Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it.” (Romans 12:6-10 MSG)

Whatever God has given you to do:
-do it from the heart
-don’t add on worldly expectations
– let God have the stress
– ask God for the passion

If you are feeling stressed, ask God to show you why you are where you are.

Then smile and get to work.
