“So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free”. John 8:36 AMP
“So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free”. John 8:36 AMP
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30 NIV
After the trial.
After the judgment.
After the sentencing.
After the shame.
After the pain.
After the spiritual separation.
After the spiritual pain.
Before His final breath.
“It is finished.”
My sin paid for.
My debt paid.
My forgiveness, offered.
My redemption, complete.
My relationship with God, possible.
Before you ever began, He finished it.
“let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” Hebrews 12:1b NIV
Can you imagine what it might be like to run with faith unhindered and un-entangled?
To not trip on THAT one sin that always pulls you down?
To go to God for what you need instead of _____________ (fill in the blank).
To serve Him freely and be able to focus completely on what He has set before you without the vines of habitual sin entangling around your ankles or the hinderance of what is always holding you back.
If our forefathers and foremothers could sit you and down give you a word of advice, they would say this: “Get rid of it. Your life is precious and short. The sooner you throw off what hinders you from walking in full obedience the better.”
What is the thing that hinders you from full obedience to God?
What is the sin that so easily entangled and trips you up?
Both things have been broken by the power of the Cross. Jesus has already taken the punishment so that you could run without them- so that you could run free.
Let go, throw it off and learn how to run free in Christ.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 NIV)
Don’t let anyone or anything tie you into believing you are a slave again.
That you have no choice or power to say NO to old habits, old thought patterns, old temptations, or old addictions. That you have no hope of changing, growing, transforming.
When the Son sets you free, you are free. You are free from the power of sin and it is not your master anymore.
Why then does it take so long to learn how to live in this freedom? Why the struggle?
It is because while your spirit has been released from the contract of sin and is legally free, your flesh has been well trained by it’s former slavery. The flesh has the old habits, temptations, and thought patterns grooved into it thru experience and years of practice.
It takes time, experience and perseverance to create thenew grooves of freedom.
Just as a bird is made to fly, a child of God is made to live in freedom.
However, it is up to you to claim your freedom.
It is up to you learn to walk in it.
It is up to you to learn how to fly with the wings of freedom God has already given you.
“So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free”. (John 8:36 AMP)
You should start (or restart) learning to live in freedom…unquestionably.
