Less Is More

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭1‬ NIV)

The Word of God has always said so,
less is more.

You don’t need more things.
You don’t need more jobs.
You don’t need more money.

You need peace, satisfaction and fulfillment.

Peace comes from God.

Satisfaction and fulfillment comes from your relationships.

When your things are getting in the way of your relationship, the things need to go (not the relationship).

You will take only two things to heaven with you: your relationship with God and your relationships with people.

Get rid of the stuff.

Hold on, fight for, prioritize and invest in your relationships.

Simplify

Simplify your Source

But now, O Lord, upon what am I relying? You are my only hope! (Psalms 39:7 NET)

The times in my life when I was at the end of my own resources, the end of my own power and even the end of my “own righteousness” has been the times when I have experienced what relying on God really means.

I know it is the same for you.

You can trust God but how will you ever know if you are relying on other things instead?

Money.

Health.

Control.

Work.

Fill in the blank:____________.

When they all fail (and they will), God still stands strong.

When you realize you can’t rely on finances, health, control or whatever it is you rely on to give you what you need, you will come to a place of freedom.

Simplify your Source.

God is your source, your provider, your sustainer. He is your creator, your counselor, your savior.

Don’t mourn the loss of your old foundations of strength and do not resurrect them.

Simplify your source:
look to your God for it all.

A Simple Life

I opened my calendar- just to make sure that I didn’t forget anything. I wanted to weep with joy when I saw this:

I have caught an ugly cold and today, I’m going to do nothing but rest. So, my friends, this is all today-

“A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life. (Proverbs 13:7 MSG)”

But really do we need any more?

What do you need to do to simplify your beautiful life?

What needs to be your number one priority?
