Real Security

worry-fades-away-when-we-know-for-sure-our-future-is-secure-in-gods-hands-quote-1

It is exhausting to live your life grasping for security but not ever really holding on to it.

“A grasping person stirs up trouble, but trust in GOD brings a sense of well- being.”‭‭ Proverbs‬ ‭28:25‬ ‭MSG‬‬

It can be triggered by envy, fear or sometimes a sense of personal failure. It is always triggered by focusing on “me, myself and I .

It is based on the belief that you don’t have what you need or enough of what you need to be secure, so you keep grasping for it in relationships, personal accomplishments, financial security and so on.

The original Hebrew word used for “trust” in the verse above means “secure”.

You can live your life from a place of security instead of insecurity.

That security is found in the love of God.

Put down the worry and fear that is plaguing your life and lift your hands in worship.

Spend some time in the presence of Jesus. You will find more peace in worshipping God than you ever will by focusing on yourself and what you lack.

You do not need more of you (or a better you, a better relationship or more stuff) to be more secure- you need more of God.

You are His precious child. That doesn’t mean life’s journey will be easy, it means that He will supply you with what you need to live it.

You can stop trying to feel secure in who you are and embrace the reality of “whose” you are.  Your identity comes from Jesus, not your family or lack thereof, not from your accomplishments or shortcomings, not from your success or failures but from Him.

My prayer for you today is that you unfurl the grasping grip of insecurity and lift them up in worship to God. May you worship Him for who He is and be reminded whose you are.

Why We Rejoice

joy-quote-2

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4 NIV

Rejoicing is the theme of the book of Philippians, even though the circumstances with which it was written hold no reason for such a sentiment. Paul is under house arrest in Rome waiting to go before Caesar. He is cut off from his friends and chained to a guard 24 hours a day. He is not comfortable and does not know what the future will hold.

And that is the point.

We don’t rejoice because life is good, we rejoice because God is good.

We don’t rejoice only when good things happen because God works through all things.

We don’t wait to rejoice until we have all the answers, we rejoice in knowing that Jesus does.  He loves you and will be with you whatever comes.

Set your heart to rejoice in Jesus today: who He is, what He has done and that your eternal future is secured by His amazing sacrifice.

Your present circumstances are provided for by the strength of His grace no matter what they look like.

We like to rejoice when we get our way but sometimes the harder way is what we actually need to grow in.

Set your mind to delight in a security of the love of Jesus and the mercy of His grace.

Rejoicing when there is nothing to rejoice about is a divine gift that will transform you.

And if you ask Jesus to open your eyes to see what you have right now to rejoice in, He will.

Take the gift and throw a party.

The Quiet Yes

Don’t underestimate the power of a quiet yes.

“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time”.
‭‭James‬ ‭4:7 ‭MSG

‬‬A quiet yes spoken with conviction.

A quiet yes whispered in surrender.

A quiet yes of obedience to make a 180 degree turn around in your life.

A quiet yes when He asks you to not settle for good when Jesus wants great things for you.

A quiet yes, because Jesus hears you even if you whisper.

A loud NO, because the enemy doesn’t.

The temptation to listen to lies of the enemy is strong because he is talking to you all the time and telling you the lies you already believe.

Today is your day to shout:

“No, I won’t settle for less”.

“No, I won’t quit”.

“No, I will not shrink back, I will push forward”.

Don’t settle for less than what God has for you.

What is your quiet yes for today?

A Seed

Dandelion-Quotes-And-Sayings-4

“I tell you the truth unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.”

‭‭John‬ ‭12:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A seed is a small packet of untapped life that will stay small with unknown potential until it is buried in the dark earth, crushed by the weight and broken open. Only then does the life within it break free to grow into what it was originally intended to become.

We try to hold it all together and hold on to our lives so fiercely when the very best thing is to let it go.

Let it change.

Let God have it all to do with as He wants.

We try to avoid situations that crush us but God will use those very things to unlock the amazing potential that He has put there. He will use it to loosen our grip on this life and show us that there is so much more of it than we can imagine.

Seeds are better when they are planted, crushed, broken and nourished to grow.

So are we.

It goes against what we think of Christianity until you look at the cross.

Until you look at the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. His glory wrapped in flesh, his body broken and crushed by our sin, three days in the dark grave only to rise and change the course of history. To redeem humanity. You rescue the drowning and restore fallen mankind to God.

In our attempt to hold onto “our” lives, we may miss the great blessing of them. We may rob others of the impact Christ can have thru us because we want to live our life, our way.  Safe, secure, planned, ordered.

But the moment we give our lives to Christ and He becomes Lord, it changes. It is no longer our life but His. No longer our ways but His. Not safe, not secure, not planned but we are planted, crushed and broken. Then nourished to break through and become all Jesus has made us for.

This thing that is crushing you just may be God’s way of planting you right smack dab in the middle of His plan for your life.

Let go of your plans and hold fiercely to His love.

The very best is yet to come.

Have an amazing Monday my friend.

Unsure but Secure

I am unsure what the future may bring but secure that God knows the plans He has for me.

I am unsure what my finances may be but secure that God is my provider.

I am unsure of what life will bring my way but secure that my flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

I am unsure of how long this life may be, but secure in the eternal life I have in Christ after this one is over.

I am unsure in my own faithfulness but I am secure in God’s.

He is my Rock.
He is my Strength.
He is my Guide.
He is my Savior.

I do not walk alone, I am not abandoned.

I am loved and cherished by the King of kings and Lord of lords.

I am only human therefore will always be unsure but because Jesus Christ is my Savior, I am forever secure in Him.

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From my heart to yours…

Anchored

20140127-201408.jpg

What is this hope? It is not a blind hope that God will do what we want him to. It is the sure hope that God will do what he has promised to.

When tossed by the seas of outward circumstance or thrown by the waves of inner failure, drop your soul’s anchor on the glorious hope that God is faithful to complete what he has started in you.

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. (Hebrews 6:19 NLT)
