Take a Look

Look at what you have in your hands.

Look at the vision in your heart.

Gaze intently, not at your own reflection, but at the One you have been created to reflect.

God’s original plan was that you be His image bearer.

The representation of His loving hands, compassionate heart, and powerful words in the world.

You are made to be a vessel that brings heaven to earth, interrupts the downward spiral of anxiety with the upward flow of faith, and intervenes in lost lives to help them find the way home.

This was the original plan sideswiped by sin, waylaid by fear, tempted to deny by the whisperer of destructive lies.

You are created to be an image bearer.  Jesus died for you to restore you to it.

With Christ, you are restored, redeemed, repurposed, and recreated in His love to walk free in God’s original plan for your life.

“He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”  Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Look closer at what you have in your hands.

Look deeper at the vision in your heart.

The world needs to see Jesus uniquely expressed through you.

Feeling lost is a terrible feeling.

Years ago on the way out of Disneyland Kyle got lost. I wasn’t holding his hand at the time and when I looked around I didn’t see him. He got distracted by a new toy and got lost in the surging crowd. I told Bobby, we stopped and immediately began the search. We went back to where we came from and began calling his name. Within moments, Bobby had him but Kyle was shaken up.

Big tears welled up in his eyes and he said, “I couldn’t see you, I couldn’t find you”. I gave him a big hug and I heard Bobby say, “You did the right thing- you stopped right where you were. We will always find you, always come back and get you.”

Kyle stuck close to me for a while after that and didn’t let go of my hand. He wanted the security of my hand and needed me to guide him through the crowd. He knew I could see more than he could, that I was stronger than he was, could protect him and knew where we were going. I was more than fine with him trusting me to guide him – I wanted to. I wanted my child close and I didn’t let go of his hand either.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”    Luke 19:10

Jesus said that he came to seek and save the lost. He came equipped with the Father’s heart of desperation to find them. To find you & me.

He came for the ones that got distracted, swallowed up by the crowd and blinded by those around them. For the ones who panic and don’t know who or where they are.

Jesus came to:

Seek and save.

Find and hold.

Reclaim and restore.

Many things can cause that terrible “I’m lost” feeling. It’s a scary feeling.

Stop wherever you are and let Jesus find you. He loves you and has crossed the boundary of heaven and earth to embrace you with His love.  Let Him guide you through the crushing crowd of fears and failures. He can see more than you can, is stronger than you are and knows how to direct you out of it.

Hold on and let Him hold onto you today.

Far from teaching us to have it all, the world gives us great lessons on how to fake it until you make it, how to function in dysfunction and how to live well while being utterly broken inside.
The good news of Jesus Christ is that He has taken your brokenness upon Himself and in return offers you His wholeness. In a relationship with Jesus, He works from the inside out to restore your mind, heal your heart, fill your soul, and ignite your spirit to God’s original design.
He wants to teach you how to live with Him.
How to live whole and treasured.
How to live trusting and trusted.
How to live nurtured and nourished.
How to love and be loved.
“He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.”
Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭21-24‬ MSG
It takes time and perseverance.
God provides the time, we provide the perseverance.
Don’t give up today.

Make Yourself at Home

“I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15:9-10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

A home is a place of protection from the outside elements.

It is a place of preparation that you come from every day.

It is the place of provision you go to and find rest in every night.

Jesus told his disciples, his friends, to make themselves at home in his love, just as he made himself at home in God’s love.

I think making yourself home in the love of Jesus is harder than it sounds because the love we are most at home in isn’t God’s.

The love we are most at home in is shaped by the love that we know from our family, from our past relationships and from the world we live in today. The love we are most at home in has come from broken people in a broken world.

The love you may know from the past is probably dysfunctional.

The love you may know from the world is definitely distorted.

The world says “love yourself”, “find the the love you need inside” and “you have all you need inside yourself”. But that love is usually destructive rather than protective.

What if all the love you know is dysfunctional, distorted and destructive?

The love you know is the love you give. It is the home you build and the life you lead. It is the love you are at home in.

Jesus came to show us what it looks like to be at home in God’s perfect love. He came to make a way for you to experience being at home in wholeness of God’s expansive love. To live in it and love from this healthy, all encompassing, forgiving, restoring, amazing love.

A love that is is a place of protection from outside elements.

A love that is a place of preparation for you to come from every day.

A love that is place of provision that you go to and find rest in every night.

Jesus opens wide his arms, points at his heart and essentially says,

“Come on in! My commands are the walls and roof that protect you, my compassion will prepare you to love those around you and my grace is the place of deep soul rest for you to be recharged and refreshed in. Come on in and make yourself at home here”.

Jesus came to heal the love you know and transform the love you give. He came to be your home.

It IS good to be home.

God’s Will

Don’t over complicate God’s will for you.

He saves.
He forgives.
He restores.
He equips.

He produces in you every good thing you need to please him.

It is his power, his love, his joy and his grace.

Stop agonizing over messing up God’s will for your life and simply focus on not missing God in your life.

Fill you life, mind, heart and soul with God and he will work out the rest.

“May he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭21‬ NLT)
