Made for Freedom

Don’t let anyone or anything con you into believing you are a slave again.
Don’t believe the enemy’s lies that you have no choice or power to say NO to old habits, old thought patterns, old temptations, or old addictions or that you have no hope of changing, growing, and transforming.
When the Son sets you free, you are free.
You are free from the power of sin and it is not your master any more.
So then why does it take so long to learn how to live in this freedom? Why struggle?
It is because while your spirit has been released from the contract of sin and is legally free, your flesh has been well trained by its former slave master.
The flesh has old habits, temptations, and thought patterns grooved into it through experience and years of practice.
It takes time, experience and perseverance to create the new grooves of freedom.
Just as a bird is made to fly, a child of God is made to live in freedom.
However, it is up to you to claim your freedom and learn to walk in it.
It is up to you to learn how to fly with the wings of freedom God has already given you.
“So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free”.  John 8:36 AMP
What old lies are sapping your strength today?

What old habits need to be left behind?

What new freedom do you long to live in?
Today is a good day to live in freedom…unquestionably.
May your mind be clear, your heart encouraged and your determination to live in the freedom that has been bought for you by the blood of Jesus be fierce in you today.

Strong

God will give you strength to fight the battle before you.

“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”

Psalm 18:34-35 NIV

My prayer for you today is that you would know His love as He pours His strength into you. I pray that you would know His peace as you lean on Him. That you would rest in God’s grace as you walk by His guidance. That you would trust Him with the future and and leave the past behind you.  I pray that you would be released from the restlessness within you and receive a new determination to go forward in faith.

Stronger

God will give you what you need right now to fight the battle before you.

“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My prayer for you today is that you would know His love as He pours His strength into you. That you would know His peace as you lean on Him. That you would rest in God’s grace as you walk by His guidance. That you would trust Him with the future and focus simply on the task before you. That you would be released from the restlessness within you as you receive a new determination to go forward in faith.

You are stronger than you know because you know where your strength comes from and whose Right Hand sustains you.

No Such Thing as a Lost Cause

“I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness”. (Isaiah 42:6, 7 NIV)

In the prophecy of the coming Messiah in Isaiah 42, God details the level of freedom His Chosen One will bring. He says that he will:

1. Open the eyes of the blind: You may be living in the world but sit in darkness still. You live your life in a familiar “safe” routine and are surrounded only by the people you know.

Christ can open blind eyes. In Christ, you will see for the first time and be able to live NEW lives beyond what you know and begin new relationships with people you didn’t know before.

2. Free captives from prison: He will open the prison doors, destroy the chains binding you and break the bars that have defined your past experience.

Jesus will give you freedom from the jail cell you have known as well as release you from the identity of what put you there. He took the shame of your past identity on the Cross so that you can walk in your new identity as the Beloved of God.

3. To release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness: this speaks of a special kind if torture and punishment. It is reserved for the lowest of the low and the worst of humanity.

And yet, Jesus will go there too. He will go into the dank, dark parts of your soul where the darkness is so deep it seems light could not pierce it. But God’s light can and God’s love can.

There is no such thing as a lost cause to God.

He will release you from the dungeons in your soul that keep you bound in areas you do not speak about.

But we are beings with free will. He will not force healing, freedom or release on anyone.

There are those who choose to reject his offer of help and refuse to leave the dungeon. They make dungeon comfortable and convince themselves that it is better than living “out there”, or “up there”.

Where are you today?
Are there areas in your life you are blind to?
Jesus, open my eyes.
Do you bear the shame of your past?
Jesus, set me free.
Are there deep dungeons that keep the unspoken secrets of your soul and keep parts of you captive in them?
Jesus, release me and flood my soul with your great light of love.

There is no such thing as a lost cause to God. You are not a lost cause. You are loved, chosen and delivered.

No Empty Hands

And when you release them, do not send them away empty-handed. (Deuteronomy 15:13 NIV)

In the Old Testament when God laid out to the Israelites how their community would work, He put in a clause to assure that those who found themselves in desperate financial situations would have a way out. They would not have to stay slaves forever. If they had sold themselves into slavery it could only last 7 years. Then the owner must release the slave and send them away with the means to begin a new life.

It is called The Lord’s Release and he instructs them to not send out their former servants empty handed.

Jesus is the fulfillment of The Lord’s Release. We are not doomed to be slaves to sin forever but have a way out in Christ.

My friend, when you are released to begin to live a free life in Christ, you do not begin your new life with empty hands.

God will use what the enemy meant for harm to bring you good and fill your hands with blessings.

God will give you what you need, when you need it.

He may not show you the end of the new road you are on but he will give you the strength to take the first step on it.

You are not empty handed as a child of God. You are provided for, equipped and empowered to walk in freedom.
