Not Empty Handed

“And when you release them, do not send them away empty-handed.”

Deuteronomy 15:13 NIV

My friend, when you have been released to live a new life in Christ you do not begin your new life empty-handed.

In the Old Testament when God laid out to the Israelites how their community would work, He put in a clause to assure that those who found themselves in desperate financial situations would have a way out. If they sold themselves into slavery to survive, they would not have to stay a slave forever – it could only last 7 years. Then their owner must release the slave and send them away with the means to begin a new life.

It was called The Lord’s Release.

Jesus is the fulfillment of The Lord’s Release.

God will use what the enemy meant for harm to bring you good and fill your hands with blessings.

God will give you what you need when you need it.

You are not empty handed as a child of God.

He may not show you the end of the new road you are on but He will give you the strength to take each step on it.

You are provided for, equipped and empowered to walk in freedom in Christ today.

Go after all God has called you to do!

Forgive Them

Forgiveness is not a feeling. It is a choice to let God have it, hold it, and be responsible for itwhatever it is.

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Forgiveness is taking the power away from them and giving it back to God.

You don’t have to trust them to forgive them.

Forgiveness is not about restoring trust in them, it is about trusting God with your heart.

They don’t have to be sorry in order for you to forgive them. They don’t even have to know that you have released them to God.

What you do have to do is make the choice today and every day after, then continue to make the choice until the feeling lines up with the decision.

And it will.

One day you will be able to remember what happened without reliving the pain.

“When we forgive an offense, we set a prisoner free, only to discover that we were that prisoner”.

Cast It

In order to cast ALL your anxiety on Him, you have to move your focus from your anxiety to your Savior.

You focus on what you’re worried about, what you can’t control, what you are not strong enough to carry. You focus on the problem and how heavy it weighs upon your shoulders. You focus on your own hands when God is asking you to focus on His heart.

He cares for you.

He cares for more than you even realize.

When you are in the middle of a fierce storm feeling out of control and tossed around, you ask Jesus, like the disciples did in Mark 4:38, “Do you even care that I’m in this storm? I didn’t see it coming, I didn’t cause it to happen and I’m not sure if I’m going to make it through.”

The answer is yesHe cares.

When you are burnt out and overwhelmed with life, you go to Jesus like Martha did in Luke 10:40, and ask,  “Don’t you care that I’m doing all the work and no one is helping me?”

The answer is yesHe cares.

In fact, the Hebrew word used for “care” in both the above passages is the SAME word used in 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) –

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Does God care?

Yes, He absolutely does.

Forgive.

The best way to break the power of the past is to forgive.

Forgiveness is not a feeling it is a choice.

A choice to let God have it, hold it, and be responsible for it- whatever it is.

Forgiveness is taking the power away from them and giving it back to God.

You don’t have to trust them to forgive them. Forgiveness is not about restoring trust in them, it is about trusting God with them.

They don’t have to sorry in order for you to forgive them. They don’t even have to know that you have released them to God.

What you do have to do is make the choice.

And everyday after, continue to make the choice until the feeling lines up with the decision.

“The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other.”
