Holding a Grudge

Holding a grudge clutters the soul with bitterness.

Living hurt or nursing regret doesn’t help you live in wholeness today.  It keeps you living wounded.

Forgiveness is vital to your soul and it is a journey Jesus wants to walk you through.

It is vital because you are valuable.

Jesus spoke about this to the crowd that followed Him up a mountain:

“Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it.

And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff.  Live generously.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-42‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God doesn’t deny that bad things happen or that people will take advantage of you but He also doesn’t abandon you to it either.

Jesus is saying that when someone takes advantage of you, give them what you have and move on with your life.  Let it go.  Forgive them.  Ask God to bless them.

In this way, you will be living in the abundance of God’s love instead of the famine of your past hurts.

You are not meant to carry the heavy load of resentment and regret.

What resentment or regret is weighing you down?

What grudge is poisoning your soul?

Bring them all to Jesus and lay each one at the foot of the cross. Then, take a deep breath and allow Him to fill the newly evacuated space with the cleansing power of His love.

Useless Regrets

No-regrets-just-lessons-learned

God knows you.

He knows your strengths and weaknesses.

He knows every regret you have ever had and why you have it.

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.”

Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭1‬ NIV

More than that, God knows how you can grow from it.

God can change your regret into a gift.

God can turn a memory of disappointment into a moment of discovery, a revelation of wisdom, a catalyst for change.

You don’t have to repeat the past. You don’t have to live with regret.

In Christ, you are a new creation and have His power within you to change, to transform, to grow.

Useless regrets are the ones you don’t learn from.

My prayer for you is that there will be NO useless regrets in your life.

What does God want to teach you from it?

Beyond Forgiveness

Living in hurt because people I loved lied to me in the past doesn’t help me live in peace now. It clutters my soul with bitterness.

Nursing the regret of dealing with people whose pride cut my life to shreds doesn’t help me heal but keeps me living wounded.

Living wounded is not God’s heart for my life or for the state of my soul.

Forgiveness is vital to the soul.

It is balm and healing. Relief and redeeming.

It is vital because you are valuable.

God wants this for you so much that he paid the price on the cross to guarantee you could receive it and give it.

But God has even more for you and your life.

Jesus spoke of it to the crowd that followed Him up a mountain:

“Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. What does life beyond forgiveness look like to Jesus?

It is living a life of generosity.

Someone takes advantage of you- give them what you have and move on with your life. Let it go. Forgive them. Ask God to bless them. Someday you may even be able to bless them yourself.

In this way, you will be living in the abundance of God’s love instead of the famine of past hurts.

God doesn’t deny that bad things happen or that people might take advantage of you but He also doesn’t abandon you to it. He empowers you to forgive, reminds you to let go and pours out His Spirit on you so that someday you can even become a blessing to them.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but in Christ, you can.

Crazy right?!?

No, you can’t do it on your own.

It is possible only by God’s grace, mercy, and power.

True freedom is living generously in your heart, spirit, and soul. It is going beyond the bare minimum to abundance in Christ.

Just start with a prayer:

“Jesus, set me so free from bitterness that I can live in your abundance in every area of my life. You made the way, help me to live it.  In your Name, Amen.”

My friend, may you be empowered by Jesus to live a life filled with freedom, wholeness, and generosity in every area of your life.

No Useless Regrets

Useless regrets are the ones you don’t learn anything from.

He can change a past regret into a gift for the future.

– Stephen Furtick

God can turn a memory of disappointment into a moment of discovery, a revelation of wisdom, a catalyst for change.

In Christ, you are a new creation and have God’s power within you to change, to transform, to grow.

May there be NO useless regrets in your life.

May you learn from something valuable from each one and face your future armed with wisdom and strength from God.

Wise Words

IMG_0320.JPG

All words are powerful.

They can set the tone, communicate vision, encourage and lift up

or

They can destroy trust, discourage and convolute the situation.

It is usually the words we plan that do the most good and the ones we don’t plan that do the most damage.

Before you speak, ask yourself if your words are going to help the situation or hurt it?

It’s okay to say you don’t know.

It’s okay to say nothing at all.

It’s okay to choose to be proactive instead of reactive with your words.

When in doubt, don’t say anything at all.

The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭21‬ NIV)

Wise words bring approval, but fools are destroyed by their own words. (‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭10‬:‭12‬ NLT)

You will never regret the words you don’t speak.

Spend your time planing the words you want to say and applying self control to the ones you don’t.
