Why did the people of Israel weep?

Because 10 of the 12 spies that Moses sent into the promised land came back saying it was impossible. And the people believed them instead of believing God.

They mourned as if they were already defeated when in truth, they had not even begun.

Be careful about how you use your imagination. You can feed your worst fears or you can feed God’s best hopes for your life.

This nation of former slaves looked at the promised land in fear because it was going to be difficult.

They wanted the promise but only if God was going to make it easy for them.

Stepping into your promised land isn’t going to be easy.

You are going to have to fight for it, face the giants and trust God to take you to a new level of trust in Him.

God has brought you this far and He will take you all the way in.

Getting there is going to be one step of faith after another.

It will always be a walk of faith.

You can trust God to give you what you will need, when you will need it to do what He has called you to do.

Wipe your tears, lace up your shoes and start walking toward your promised land.

Take Hold

All relationships have to be a give and take in order to be healthy. It has to go two ways or else you are not in a relationship, you are in a fandom.

This includes your relationship with God.

Your “give” to God: to journey forward with Him and hold nothing back. Give Him all.

So what is your “take”? Your “take” is to partake of promises, consume them, receive them and walk forward in them.

This taking is not a selfish act, it is a trusting one.

It is also not a passive act but it is an active and proactive one.

It is possessing the land, pursuing the promise and wholeheartedly going after your purpose.

Where is your promised land?
Where you now reside.

The secret of walking in faith is recognizing that your promised land is not somewhere else but right here. It is where you are right now but transformed by God’s intervention.

It is your life transformed by God’s intervention.

It is your marriage transformed by God’s intervention.

It is your workplace transformed by God’s intervention.

It is your parenting transformed by God’s intervention.

It is you- transformed by God’s intervention.

Walking in faith, not in the flesh, in grace, not legalism, in love not hate.

Close your eyes. Open the eyes of your heart and ask God to give you His vision for your life. With eyes of faith see the promised land laid out before you. Taste the bounty you will cultivate, the joy of habitation. Fall in love with the hope-filled future God has planned for you.

Then with courage and tenacity walk hand in hand with God. Grow forward in faith and take hold of your purpose, one step at a time. Hold nothing back from His loving gaze or hand of grace.

There are unimaginable blessings awaiting those who will walk in the purposes of God, hand-in-hand with Him. You have barely scratched the surface. Now, as it was then, your faith will become sight and you will see with your own eyes the promises of God come to pass.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen”.

Ephesians 3:20, 21 NIV

You Can Do All Things…

You may be at a crossroads today.

You may be tired and worn out.

Maybe a bit discouraged and overwhelmed.

You know that the task before you is too big for you to do on your own.

God knows this too.

He doesn’t intend for you to do it on your own or by yourself.

He intends for you to move forward with Him.

To face the impossible challenge with Him.

To take the promised land back from the enemy and learn to live in it with Him.

So when you  are at this crossroad wondering if you should keep going forward or if you even have the strength to, hear these words from your Father in heaven:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Should you move forward?

Can you?


Yes
.

Why?


Because you can do all things through Him who strengthens you.

What impossible thing are you facing?

Who are you putting your faith in- yourself or God?

Wipe your tears, lace up your shoes and start walking toward your promised land.

Believe God Anyway

Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing.

When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I want to encourage you today that no matter how dark the situation may seem to believe that God can do something about it anyway.

I want to challenge you to dare to trust Him in the desert – there is a promised land and you are on your way to it.

My prayer for you is that like Abraham you will decide to live today not based on what you can’t do but on what God can do through you. His power sustaining you to walk, to love, to care and to be fully alive even though you may feel dead inside.

Long before he saw the fruit of the promise, Abraham believed God anyway. Though everything in his life seemed to indicate otherwise, He lived his life, every day, not looking at the impossibility of the promise but in the possibility of God.
Because God initiated it, Abraham believed that God would fulfill it.

I am sure that there were times that Abraham barely believed. I know that there were days that he was only holding on to a bare thread of hope…but he held on.

Hold on, my friend, you may have only had a thread of hope but in Christ, that thread is stronger than what you face and will hold against that which you fear.

I know you don’t see how it will happen but God does. He can see how and he knows when.

Hold on.

Hold on to Jesus…He is holding onto you.

Unstuck

“See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”  ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Promised Land was before them.  A land for them to conquer, settle in and prosper in and they were afraid.

They saw the giants and established city walls and were discouraged.

They only saw the insurmountable obstacles in front of them instead of seeing the unlimited power of their God to overcome those obstacles.

It is easy to see why: the promised land holds fierce battles, starting over and learning new skills, like how to grow your own food. No more mana in the promised land.

In the life of a Christian, the promised land is living fully in Christ. Taking hold of His promises and living in His power. It means following, obeying and trusting Him in all circumstances.

It also means that there will be fierce battles with your flesh. Some would rather go back to slavery and be assured of being fed than starting over again and learning new skills.

It is time for you to go forward, start over and learn new skills.

It is time to leave the mountain you have been stuck on and move on to the life in Christ that has been provided to you by the cross.

How do you get unstuck?

Stop listening to your fears and start obeying your God.

Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.

Get Ready to Move

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A year and a half ago we moved our family across the country from California to Florida.

We have moved a few times before but not this far. Looking at the house in California and deciding what to take and what to not drag across the country felt like a full-time job all by itself.

I saw things differently.

Every item I looked at came with questions:

Do I need this?
How badly do I need this?
Do I want this?
Why do I still have this?
Do I even like this?
Do I want it enough to drag it across the country?

It wasn’t easy but it was good.

I needed to get rid of stuff.

I needed to discard the clutter, the extra, the just because, the what if’s, the someday-I-will-use -this-but-I-haven’t-for-10-years- and- it-doesn’t-even-fit-me stuff.

Break camp and advance.

It is an invitation to get rid of the dead weight and take only the important, the beneficial the essential, the absolutely without a doubt I-will-need-this-in-my-next-place stuff.

Before the children of Israel could advance into their promised land, they would have to break camp where they were.

Before you can advance in God’s vision for your life, you have to break camp where you are.

It is an invitation to reevaluate what mental and emotional baggage you are carrying and ask yourself:

Do I need this?
How badly do I need this?
Do I want this?
Why do I still have this?
Do I even like this?
Do I want it enough to drag it into the new place the Lord has for me?

Pack up the essentials.
Keep memories.
Get rid of the crap.
