Your Faith

Your faith in God is more precious than the finest of gold. It will last longer than your job, your goals and your body.  It is the eternal life inside of you that sustains you through the trials of the temporary outside life.

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

Job 23:10 NIV

When God tests your faith to purify it. To clarify it. To clean it from dross and impurities. He will use the smallest irritation or the greatest trial to do it. He does not send the trial but He will use it.

The same fire that destroys wood purifies gold.

God can use the very thing that you feel is destroying you to purify you.

He will use the disappointment you are experiencing to make the dross of your heart rise to the surface so He can skim it off.

You have a promise here that God knows where you are, what you are going through and He knows how to use it to do an important work for you.

You will come out of it shining.

Hold onto God during this season because He is most certainly holding onto you.

Mundane Moments

Some of the best moments of worshipping God is the smallest of them – the mundane moments in your day.

When given to Jesus, they are offerings of thanksgiving in the unseen simplicity of your daily life.

Little altars of normal and boring and non-important that are precious gifts to the in-the-moment relationship building God.

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Don’t get caught up in the world’s view of important and busy.

God’s definition of important is a daily relationship with you.

You.

When you make the small moments of your everyday endeavors an offering to God, you will discover that having abundant life in Christ isn’t about doing big things for Him but worshipping Him in the small things you do every day.

May today’s mundane moments and unseen duties be filled with sweet worship and small offerings of fellowship with your very present God.

Your Gifts

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The gift that you are with your smile and words, your hands and heart, how you cook or clean, create or organize, how you lead and follow, bless and pray is meant to be given, not hidden.
God has given you gifts.
All kinds.
Some come as talent.
Others are revealed in character.
Some are gifts to you as well as through you that bring such joy that you can’t wait to share them.
Some are so close to your heart that you are afraid to reveal them.
But gifts are made for giving.
Salt is made for seasoning.
Light is made for lighting.
Gifts are made for giving.
The more precious they are to you, the more powerful they will be for others.
The gifts you have been given are to be given away: to serve, to love, to mend, to tend, to bless, to build.

Recovered Joy

You know that moment when you find something that you lost? Years ago, I asked for real pearl earrings from Bobby for Valentines Day. I love them. They are classic, beautiful and more precious to me because of who bought them for me.

As you can guess, I lost one. I searched all over and was heart broken that it was lost. Unable to accept that it was gone, I searched again- and found it tucked into the crevice where the carpet meets the wall on my closet floor. Found!!!

It is a sweet joy magnified a thousand times in the heart of God when he recovers a lost soul. One who is cherished, loved and even more precious to him because of who paid for them.

Jesus framed the idea like this: A good Shepard who leaves the 99 of the herd to go after the 1 sheep who has wondered off and got lost. He searches until he finds it:

“And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ (Luke 15:5, 6 NIV)

Sweet joy. People would be less defensive if they knew how much they were being looked for. How much they belong. How much they are loved and have a Savior who is searching for them. Don’t give up on them- God certainly doesn’t.
