Impossible Situations

img_4991-1-2

It was an impossible situation.

The Israelites were stuck between the sea and their former slave masters coming to recapture them:

“But Moses told the people,

‘Don’t be afraid.

Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today.

The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.

The LORD himself will fight for you.

Just stay calm.”’

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Hemmed in by the mountains on both sides, they had no way out and no way forward. Their newfound freedom seemed fleetingly short and ultimately doomed.

They knew that God had delivered them from slavery but little more. They had not been free long enough to learn how powerful He is. They didn’t know that He would fight for them, split the sea before them and rescue them from an impossible situation.

They did not know God…yet.

When you don’t want to go back but don’t know how you are going to go forward, trust God and:

1. Don’t let fear dictate your decisions.

2. Don’t run around trying to figure out what to do. Stop. Pray. Listen. Stand still and watch the LORD work.

When going forward looks like an impossibility, God is not punishing you, He is teaching you more about Himself.

The LORD Himself will fight for you.

Trust Him and watch what He is about to do.

Your Words

Words Are Powerful Quote Words. So Powerful. They Can Crush A Heart, Or Heal It. They Can

All words hold power.
They set the tone, communicate vision, encourage and lift up or they destroy trust, discourage and complicate the situation.
It is usually the words we plan that help people and the ones we don’t plan that hurt them.
Before you speak, ask yourself if your words are going to help the situation or hurt it?
Also,
It’s okay to say you don’t know.
It’s okay to say nothing at all.
It’s okay to choose to be proactive instead of reactive.
When in doubt, don’t say anything at all.
“Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Spend your time planning the words you want to say and applying self-control to the ones you don’t.
My friend, may your words bring healing to those who desperately need it today and empower those around you to be courageous in pursuing the potential God has put in them.

A Small Touch

Love never gives up”.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4 MSG‬‬

So much can be communicated through a small touch.

A reassuring pat of the hand.

A hug.

A gentle tug on the elbow of someone who you want closer.

Holding a hand.

A small touch can make a bad thing okay, an okay thing good and make a good thing great.

Small touches are difference makers in a relationship, in a life.

They can be the first thing we unconsciously give and the first thing that we unconsciously withhold.

When we struggle, we when are angry, when we are hurt, we withhold the small touches.

It’s easy to forget how important they are to us and to those we love.

A small touch may make a difference.

What small touch do you need to give?

Who needs it?

What is holding you back from giving it and whatever that is – is it more important than the relationship?

The Sentence that Matters

There are many things in life that are small but can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Like small sentences:

Don’t give up.

I forgive you.

I love you.

I miss you.

Pray for me.

Go for it.

You matter.

Forgive me.

Let go.

Yes.

No.

Which sentence do you need today?

Which sentence do you need to say today?

Jesus used many small powerful sentences to change people’s lives:

Follow me.

Your sins are forgiven.

Stand up and walk.

I am He.

Pray like this.

Be healed.

Which one do you need to hear today?

Sometimes, the most important things are said (and heard) in the smallest of sentences.

The sentence that matters is the sentence that is said.

Use them, receive them, say them to someone who needs to hear the truth of them today.

Words

“Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.”

James 3:5 NIV

Words are powerful.

The words you say to yourself.

The words you say to others.

You control your words, not the other way around.

You can be honest without being mean.

You can be mean without being honest.

God has given you the great privilege of being the spark that lights the fire.

Whether it is a fire to warm and nourish others or one that burns and destroys them is up to you.

Choose wisely.

A Story of Grace

img_5636

Just like a pencil in the hand of an artist or writer, it is a tool to tell a powerful story.  Your life, in the hands of God, is a story of grace waiting to be written.

You have been carefully chosen,  gently held, are directed and purposed in the Hand of God to be used by Him, where you are.

“If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The most powerful thing you can do today is to surrender completely, restfully and trust Him to guide you to be an instrument of hope, love, encouragement, and strength to those around you. God knows where you are.

“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.” – Mother Teresa

You are a pencil in the hand of a writing God…what story of grace will He tell through your life today?
