A Quiet Heart

Living in a loud world requires cultivating a quiet heart.

You may be focusing on your to-do list but God is focused on tending to your heart.

“In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Just as an untended garden grows wild and will produce good things as well as life-threatening weeds, it is the same with your heart.

Your heart needs to be tended to on a daily basis.

New things NEED to be planted, old things NEED to be pruned.

However, you are not the gardener of your heart, God is.

Your heart is the soil.

As you invite Jesus in, He waters your soul. As you spend time with Him, the Holy Spirit pulls weeds. As you trust the Father, He plants seeds of faith.

It is a partnership but one that is different than you are used to.

Your most important job is to give God time, opportunity and full access to do His work in your heart.

A quiet, secure heart is of great value to those closest to you and the loud, insecure world around you.

Shut the world out and invite Jesus in today to do some landscaping in your heart with His amazing grace.

A Seed

Dandelion-Quotes-And-Sayings-4

“I tell you the truth unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.”

‭‭John‬ ‭12:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A seed is a small packet of untapped life that will stay small with unknown potential until it is buried in the dark earth, crushed by the weight and broken open. Only then does the life within it break free to grow into what it was originally intended to become.

We try to hold it all together and hold on to our lives so fiercely when the very best thing is to let it go.

Let it change.

Let God have it all to do with as He wants.

We try to avoid situations that crush us but God will use those very things to unlock the amazing potential that He has put there. He will use it to loosen our grip on this life and show us that there is so much more of it than we can imagine.

Seeds are better when they are planted, crushed, broken and nourished to grow.

So are we.

It goes against what we think of Christianity until you look at the cross.

Until you look at the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. His glory wrapped in flesh, his body broken and crushed by our sin, three days in the dark grave only to rise and change the course of history. To redeem humanity. You rescue the drowning and restore fallen mankind to God.

In our attempt to hold onto “our” lives, we may miss the great blessing of them. We may rob others of the impact Christ can have thru us because we want to live our life, our way.  Safe, secure, planned, ordered.

But the moment we give our lives to Christ and He becomes Lord, it changes. It is no longer our life but His. No longer our ways but His. Not safe, not secure, not planned but we are planted, crushed and broken. Then nourished to break through and become all Jesus has made us for.

This thing that is crushing you just may be God’s way of planting you right smack dab in the middle of His plan for your life.

Let go of your plans and hold fiercely to His love.

The very best is yet to come.

Have an amazing Monday my friend.

Planted and Prosperous

Do you want to be planted and prosperous?

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. (‭Psalm‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ NIV)

You don’t have to worry about the season you are in or if your are bearing the right fruit.

Focus on being planted by streams of living water and you will automatically bear the fruit you need to, when you are supposed to.

A tree doesn’t focus on bearing fruit, it focuses it’s energy on finding water. If it is well supplied, it will flourish. When it is flourishing, it automatically bears fruit.

Focus on sending your roots deep in the truth, in Jesus, in His Word, His promises, His character, His love.

Find your identity in His love and your security in guidance.

Flourish in His Grace.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭6-7‬ NIV)

Right Work in the Right Season

2015/01/img_00201.jpg

It is important to do the right work in the right season.

Seasons of life can shift in increments or in miles but either way, you need to adjust to it. You need to know where you are and what your priority is during this time.

If you don’t, you will be expecting to harvest something that you never planted, protected, nourished and pruned.

What season are you in right now?

What is the most important thing you need to be doing?

At the end of it- what do you want your harvest to be?

Sluggards do not plow in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭20‬:‭4‬ NIV)

Work the land you have been given now and plant the seeds in it that you want to harvest later.
