A Seed

Dandelion-Quotes-And-Sayings-4

“I tell you the truth unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.

Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.”

‭‭John‬ ‭12:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

A seed is a small packet of untapped life that will stay small with unknown potential until it is buried in the dark earth, crushed by the weight and broken open. Only then does the life within it break free to grow into what it was originally intended to become.

We try to hold it all together and hold on to our lives so fiercely when the very best thing is to let it go.

Let it change.

Let God have it all to do with as He wants.

We try to avoid situations that crush us but God will use those very things to unlock the amazing potential that He has put there. He will use it to loosen our grip on this life and show us that there is so much more of it than we can imagine.

Seeds are better when they are planted, crushed, broken and nourished to grow.

So are we.

It goes against what we think of Christianity until you look at the cross.

Until you look at the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. His glory wrapped in flesh, his body broken and crushed by our sin, three days in the dark grave only to rise and change the course of history. To redeem humanity. You rescue the drowning and restore fallen mankind to God.

In our attempt to hold onto “our” lives, we may miss the great blessing of them. We may rob others of the impact Christ can have thru us because we want to live our life, our way.  Safe, secure, planned, ordered.

But the moment we give our lives to Christ and He becomes Lord, it changes. It is no longer our life but His. No longer our ways but His. Not safe, not secure, not planned but we are planted, crushed and broken. Then nourished to break through and become all Jesus has made us for.

This thing that is crushing you just may be God’s way of planting you right smack dab in the middle of His plan for your life.

Let go of your plans and hold fiercely to His love.

The very best is yet to come.

Have an amazing Monday my friend.

Rethink the Possibilities

img_2904

Whether specific or general, you have made plans for the future.

When you are hopeful, those plans are exciting.

When you are stressed, those plans are surviving.

When you are discouraged, those plans shrink to the bare minimum.

God continually wants to expand your perspective and challenge the boundaries of your possibilities. Most of the time it is because they are too limited.

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sometimes your “ifs” are not because you doubt God but because you doubt yourself. You are judging the possibilities of the future based on what you can do and God is asking you to judge the possibilities of the future based on what He can do.

I’m asking God to blow your mind and give you a glimpse of His purposes and plans for your future.

I’m praying that He will expand the boundaries of what you think is possible and take the limits off what you think God can do in your life.

What possibilities do you have that need rethinking?

How are you limiting God’s work in your life?

What do you need to do today to bust it wide open and begin dreaming again?

Unsure But Secure

img_6600

You can be unsure what the future may bring but be secure in the knowledge that God knows the plans he has for you.

You can be unsure about your finances but secure that God is your provider.

You can be unsure of what life will bring your way but secure that although it feels like your flesh and heart may fail, God is the strength of your heart and your portion forever.

You can be unsure of how long your life may be but secure that you will live forever with God.

You can be unsure even in your own faithfulness but rest secure in God’s.

He is your Rock.
He is your Strength.
He is your Guide.
He is your Savior.

You do not walk alone, you are not abandoned.

You are loved and cherished by the King of kings and Lord of lords.

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Get up and do what you have to do today.

Do it in God’s strength, God’s grace and wrapped in his unquenchable love.

What If’s and Oh Well’s.

a-life-of-oh-wells-daily-quote-picture-saying

“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but GOD ’s purpose prevails.” ‭Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭21‬ MSG

Being in a relationship with God has challenged me to do things I thought I never would and has expanded the borders of what I thought was possible in my life. It also has taught me to not hold on too tightly to my plans and brainstorms and to hold them all gently.

Some ventures have worked, some have not.

The wonderful thing about being in a relationship with God is that while our plans don’t always work out, God always works His purpose through them.

My faith has emboldened me to try and trust and risk. Because of it, I don’t have many “what if’s” in my life. I do, however, have a whole bunch of “oh well’s” and I am thankful for every single one of them.

No, they didn’t work the way I thought they would but God did a work in me through each one of them.

There is nothing wrong with making plans, or lists or dreaming of a better way to do things, just don’t make them idols to worship or gods to bow down to.

Worship the one and only Almighty God and live every day to the fullest in Him.

My friend, go ahead risk a bit, bite off more than you can chew and take the initiative to dream…but hold them all with open hands and an open heart.

Trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Whatever today brings, I want to remind you to trust God in it.

Trust that He has your present provided for. Jesus will give you what you need, when you need it to deal with what is happening right now.

Trust that He will heal your past. There is no sin is tronger than the blood of Jesus and no hurt his love can’t heal.

Trust that He has your future in the palm of His hand. Jesus is preparing a place for you and preparing you for the place. Stressing about it helps no one. Rest in Him and wait.

Take a deep breath and fix your eyes on Jesus.

Trust.

Plans

You wake up with daily plans. Thoughts of how to get things done, what needs to get done first. What needs to said to who and when you need to say those words.

You wrestle with weekly plans. Where you need to go, what time to get there, what you will do when you get there.

You populate your yearly calendar with school, work days, appointments, meetings, celebrations and if your lucky, vacations.

Lots of plans.
Lots of thoughts.
Lots of intentions.

When God enters the picture, He infuses your plans with His purpose.

He offers Himself as your advisor, as your counselor, as your guide through life.

God’s purposes begin to impact your daily choices.

Divine appointments begin to fill your weekly calendar.

And when your yearly calendar begins to reflect God’s character and your biggest events reflect His heart, you are living a purpose driven life instead of a plan driven one.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Plans change.
God’s purposes do not.

He can work in your plans, through them or sometimes inspite of them.

And when the plan changes put your trust in the God who does not change.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Begin by inviting God into your daily plans.

Obey His nudges.

Let His purpose prevail.

And watch Him transform your life.

More to See

IMG_0046
I grew up about an hour from the beach in Southern California. Unless you know you are going to the beach, it feels more like you are stuck in traffic. A lot of traffic. And smog.
But then you turn a corner and there it is- the sand, the waves, the beach.

You don’t know what is around the corner.

Sometimes, you can’t even guess.

Keep going.

There is more to see.

God has so much to show you.

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. (‭Psalm‬ ‭65‬:‭8‬ NIV)
