At a Crossroads

“Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take.”
Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭1-9‬ MSG

You may be at a crossroads today.

You may be tired and worn out.

Maybe a bit discouraged and overwhelmed.

You know that the task before you is too big for you to do on your own.

God knows this too.

He doesn’t intend for you to do it on your own or by yourself.

He intends for you to move forward with Him.

To face the impossible challenge with Him.

To take the promised land back from the enemy and learn to live in it with Him.

So when you  are at this crossroad wondering if you should keep going forward or if you even have the strength to, hear these words from your Father in heaven:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ NIV

Should you move forward?

Yes
.

Can you?

Yes
.

Why?

Because you can do all things through Him who strengthens you.

Prepared to Be

Prayer is what makes a difference in you so that God can make a difference thru you.

When you pray for others, you will begin to see them from God’s perspective, no matter who they are.

God has placed you where you are, for however long, to make an eternal impact.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.”

Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭8-10‬ NIV

You don’t have to know how God will use you, you just have to know why: to love.

Pray for those God has put around you and love them.

Live as a child of the Light where you are.

Put yourself in God’s Hands and let Him take care of the rest.

Dripping with God’s Grace

quotation-st-francis-de-sales-god-grace-meetville-quotes-40195

Good morning.

I wanted to remind you that you are saved by grace so that you can:

Love by grace,
Forgive by grace,
Grow by grace,
Give by grace,
Work by grace,
Eat by grace,
LIVE BY GRACE

“And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NIV‬

Grace, as in – God’s work for you vs. my work in me.

We begin to start working on “being better” and “doing better”.  We begin to work on being a good Christian. But it doesn’t work, does it?

How easy it is to slip into the “flesh work” after we accept Christ’s gift of salvation. Sometimes it takes minutes not days.

“Self -improvement is no more God’s plan than self-salvation. God’s plan is not just for us to be saved by grace -it is for us to live by grace. God’s plan is for my daily life to be given, guided, guarded and energized by the grace of a God.”

– John Ortberg,
The Me I Want to Be, pg 39.

God hasn’t redeemed you so that you can be a “good Christian”, He has redeemed you to love you and empower you to love others.

Jesus has opened wide the door for you to walk with Him every day and draw from His unquenchable source of love to pour into every area of your life.

May you be so drenched in His love that is drips off you and onto everything you touch.

Cautious Living

I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.”

“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:25 MSG‬‬

When God invests in you, puts something in your hands, in your heart or in your personality, He expects you to do something with it.

This verse says it’s criminal to live cautiously with God given-investments.

The third servant in the story took what his master gave him and “dug a hole and buried it” (vs16).

Beth Moore says “Sometimes, we can protect ourselves right out of our calling.”

Cautious Living is a crime in God’s eyes.

He loves you passionately and wants you to boldly get to work the visions, gifts, and callings that He has given you.

You may be asking God to give you more…but he may be asking, “What are you doing with what I’ve already given you?”

What has God invested in you?

What have you buried in fear?

What does it look like to multiply what God has invested in you?

Beyond Forgiveness

9ab18aa88e858e60360091f17dd28bb4--bible-quotes-forgiveness-forgive-quotes

Living in hurt because people I loved lied to me in the past doesn’t help me live in peace now. It clutters my soul with bitterness.

Nursing the regret of dealing with people whose pride cut my life to shreds doesn’t help me heal but keeps me living wounded.

Living wounded is not God’s heart for my life or for the state of my soul.

Forgiveness is vital to the soul.

It is balm and healing. Relief and redeeming.

It is vital because you are valuable.

God wants this for you so much that he paid the price on the cross to guarantee you could receive it and give it.

But God has even more for you and your life.

Jesus spoke of it to the crowd that followed Him up a mountain:

“Here’s another old saying that deserves a second look: ‘Eye for eye, tooth for tooth.’ Is that going to get us anywhere? Here’s what I propose: ‘Don’t hit back at all.’ If someone strikes you, stand there and take it. If someone drags you into court and sues for the shirt off your back, giftwrap your best coat and make a present of it.

And if someone takes unfair advantage of you, use the occasion to practice the servant life. No more tit-for-tat stuff.  Live generously.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-42‬ ‭MSG‬‬

What does life beyond forgiveness look like to Jesus?

It is living a life of generosity.

Someone takes advantage of you- give them what you have and move on with your life. Let it go. Forgive them. Ask God to bless them. Someday you may even be able to bless them yourself.

In this way, you will be living in the abundance of God’s love instead of the famine of past hurts.

God doesn’t deny that bad things happen or that people might take advantage of you but He also doesn’t abandon you to it. He empowers you to forgive, reminds you to let go and pours out His Spirit on you so that someday you can even become a blessing to them.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but in Christ, you can.

Crazy right?!?

No, you can’t do it on your own.

It is possible only by God’s grace, mercy, and power.

True freedom is living generously in your heart, spirit, and soul. It is going beyond the bare minimum to abundance in Christ.

Just start with a prayer:

“Jesus, set me so free from bitterness that I can live in your abundance in every area of my life. You made the way, help me to live it.  In your Name, Amen.”

My friend, may you be empowered by Jesus to live a life filled with freedom, wholeness, and generosity in every area of your life.

A Reminder

LIVE BY GRACE

God hasn’t redeemed you so that you can be a “good Christian”, He has redeemed you to walk in the power and freedom that have been bought for you by the Cross.

He has opened wide the door for you to walk with Him every day and draw from His unquenchable source of love to pour into every area of your life.

Grace is more than a prayer to say before you eat, it is a lifestyle.

So, go ahead and LIVE it
and have a fantastic weekend.

Experience Him

Whenever you feel lost and unsure of how to start up again, go back to the basics.

2 Peter 1:5-9 in the Message Version has a beautiful way of looking at building a sturdy foundation through your daily experience of Jesus:

Begin again, go back to Basic Faith – the first step, the abandoned sin, throwing of oneself upon the mercy of God and walking forward into the unseen with the belief that you are not alone to develop…Good Character– staying true to what you believe in the little things and letting those small choices of integrity overflow into the big things as you grow in…Spiritual Understanding– the moments you can’t explain, but know are true that help you walk in…Alert Discipline– not allowing time, tiredness, busyness, past baggage, old excuses erode right habits, receiving grace and energy from God as you endeavor to live in…Passionate Patience– being able to expectantly wait for one thing while wholehearted working for another. Choosing to focus on being obedient, not on the results of being obedient while walking in…Reverent Wonder– the awe of knowing God’s power combined with the wide eyes of a childlike heart and living with…Warm Friendliness- the smile, the hug, gentle knowing atmosphere of those who are confidently walking in their purpose while loving those other’s with God’s…Generous Love– being able to love those closest to us without fear or conditional embraces as well as the ability to love those we barley know with an authenticity that only comes from intimately knowing God.

“For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

May you experience Jesus and know Him today as your loving Savior, close Friend, trusted Counselor, reliable Guide, powerful Redeemer, hope Giver, grace Maker, and sovereign Lord.

Experiencing His love and working it into all the different parts of your daily life is what changes itit is what changes you.

Have an amazing Wednesday, my friend!
