Better Than Coffee

There is something better than coffee in the morning. Something you need more than caffeine to get you going.

It is hope.

Hope will change your perspective, attitude and energy level.

Do you need a good strong cup of hope today?

Make some room for God.

Push the stress away, shove the overwhelming avalanche of all that must be done and make room for hope like you are pushing a pile of laundry away to have a place to sit on your bed.

Hope is found in the living Word of God which brings you into the presence of the Almighty God and poured into your heart by the power of the Holy Spirit.

When you make room for hope, you are making room for God to come in and do what you can’t do.

You are believing that His power is unlimited and He is able to do above and beyond more than you can ask or imagine.

Hope enlarges your heart and makes room for faith to grow.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus is the God of hope.

Just because you can’t see how what you hope for will happen doesn’t mean it isn’t possible with God.

Yes, Jesus IS better than coffee to help you navigate your day.

But that doesn’t mean don’t have a cup of coffee in the morning, I would never suggest that.

Jesus first, coffee second.

Talking to Myself

I am going to laundry today. It is not my gift.
I don’t want to do the laundry but if I don’t my boys will not have socks tomorrow (why are there never enough socks?)

My strongest gift is words. That being said, talking about the laundry doesn’t get it done. Talking to the laundry doesn’t get it done either.
But talking to myself might, if the words are right.

If I remind myself that doing the laundry for my family makes them feel loved (even more than my words do). If I remind myself how less stressful the mornings are without shouts of “Mom, I can’t find my socks”or without my replies of “Strewn all over the house where you left them”, and  “We have hampers in your room FOR A REASON”. If I remind myself how much I enjoy the laundry being done, then it might get done.

If I remind myself that while doing the laundry is not in my gift set, it is a gift that I give my family. It is a gift of service and a little bit of sacrifice because I don’t like doing it. But I like them. I love them. I want to take care of them and I want them the know it. They say actions speak louder than words because it is true but if I don’t get my inner monologue on board with that truth, the actions might never happen. Or worse, it might get done but I’ll be in “angry mom syndrome” and no one benefits from that.

Life is full of things that are not in your God given gift set but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have to get done. The key is to take the biggest and best gift God has given you, Himself, and ask for some help. He is good at helping.

He is also good at showing you how to use the gifts He has given you. He gave them to you for a purpose. He would like you to use them.

For me, that purpose has been to talk my attitude around from begrudgingly overwhelmed to thankful I get to do it. Wow, God is good.

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

May you be radiantly lit up with love of Jesus today and let that love spill over to all who come near. Especially if it involves dirty socks.
