Catch a Glimpse

neither-height-nor-depth-nor-anything-else-in-all-creation-will-be-able-to-separate-us-from-the-love-of-god

You are loved with a love so powerful that when you catch a glimpse of it, it changes you. It gives you hope. It makes you want more of God and God wants you to have more of Him too.

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”    James 1:25 MSG

Even a glimpse of God’s love through Jesus for you is powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation in your heart.

Love moves us to action.

So…act on it.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Do what God is asking you to do.

Forgive that person who doesn’t deserve it.

Give that small gift to that person who isn’t expecting it.

Take a walk and ask Jesus to fill you with the truth of His overwhelming love for you with each step you take.

Speak the truth in love.

I didn’t say speak nice to everyone, I said to speak the truth in love. If you really love them, you will tell them the truth.

Really love them.

What is the truth of God’s unearnable, unending love inspiring you to do today?

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.

Grab your glimpse and go after it!

Love Them

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ NIV

The Greek word for “love” here is Agape. It is a love that gives generously, cares first, forgives first, extends endless second chances and never gives up.

It is the word that describes who God is: uncontainable, unrelenting, unending, unchanging LOVE.

Love is heaven’s greatest treasure and earth’s most desperate need.

God has put people in your life that need His love in action.

Let God love them through you:

Love them authentically, without expecting anything back.

Find a need and fill it for them.

Forgive first, not because they deserve it.

Give them a second chance.

Don’t give up on them and ask God to show you how He sees them.

Love founded in truth and put to action is the most powerful force in the world.

Who has God given you to love?

How are you going to love them today?

Just A Lil’ Bit

“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

Galatians 5:6 NIV

What counts more than money, things, activities, entertainment or even a clean house?

Faith expressing itself through love.

It is like having a keychain packed full of keys and on it is this really little one, you know, that one random key that you are not sure what it is for but you are afraid to throw it out?

What if on the packed keychain of your life, you find out that there is a key that unlocks a vault where all the richest treasures are stored? You would use it, wouldn’t you?

That key is faith in Jesus expressed through love.

Jesus told His disciples in Luke 17:6 that they didn’t need to have big faith. He said that if they put into action the little faith they did have,  mountains would move.

Just a lil’ bit, that’s all you need.

It’s not the size of your faith but the size of your God.

A tiny bit of a faith, a glimpse of an idea, a crumb of hope, that is all.

Get a little bit of the dream Jesus has for you, add love and put it into action.

Take a little bit of hope in his power, add a pinch of faith and do something.

When you are at that place where it seems a positive change is more like turning the Titanic than turning a key, get with Jesus.

If you need faith for your situation, He will let you use His.

If you need to remember the dream, ask God, He dreamt it first.

If you need hope and a bit of encouragement, He is the God of all hope.

You just need a little bit to start with.

What is the Lord’s vision for your life today?

What can you do with the little faith you have?

How will you express it through love today?

Small Touches

Today’s small coffee break is from Rebel Tea & Coffee in Fort Meyers, Fl. I went there on my birthday last year, loved it but haven’t been back. Maybe I will go back this year on my birthday. While we sip, let’s talk about small touches.

Love never gives up”.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4 MSG‬‬

So much can be communicated through a small touch.

A reassuring pat of the hand.

A hug.

A gentle tug on the elbow of someone who you want closer.

Holding a hand.

A small touch can make a bad thing okay, an okay thing good and make a good thing great.

Small touches are difference makers in a relationship, in a life.

They can be the first thing we unconsciously give and the first thing that we unconsciously withhold.

When we struggle, we when are angry, when we are hurt, we withhold the small touches.

It’s easy to forget how important they are to us and to those we love.

Wherever you are at in any of your relationships it might be a small touch that makes a difference.

Don’t worry about starting big- start small.

What small touch do you need to receive?

What small touch do you need to give?

Just Pray

prayer_quote_4

“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:1-2 ‭MSG‬‬

Thinking about prayer and praying is not the same thing.

Talking about prayer and praying is not the same thing.

Prayer doesn’t have to be eloquent to be powerful or lengthy to have consequence.

You just need to pray. Every way you know how, for everyone you know. It isn’t a test to pass or a class to take, it is prayer. There is no wrong way to pray, just pray.

The power of prayer is that it connects you with a powerful God who loves you so much that He took care of all that hinders you from connecting to Him. Every fear, doubt, stumble, mistake, misstep or mindset that separates you from God, Jesus took on the cross. Every judgement, injustice, neglect or wrong done to you by others, Jesus took on the cross. This is why you can be unhindered in prayer for others and honest in prayer for yourself.

Let no excuse stop you today from getting in a safe quiet place and praying, even for five minutes.

Less Fear, Fear Less

Everytime you obey God, you drain fear of its power in your life.

Fearless obedience is not about waiting until you have no fear to obey, it is about obeying Jesus no matter how you feel.

It starts with terrified obedience,
then moves to afraid obedience,
becomes nervous obedience,
evolves into determined obedience and somewhere down the line,
joyous obedience will overtake your heart.

To go after all God has for you, talent is optional but obedience is indispensable.

Every time you use whatever faith you have whether it be little or large to step out in obedience you are trusting a loving God to walk with you every step of the way.

“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Whatever Jesus is asking of you today,  he brings all his power with him to help you do it.

Less fear.
More faith.
Abundant life.

What is Jesus asking of you today?

What does it look like to trust him in this?

What is the #1 most important
truth you need to hold on to as you step out in faith?

What Is Stopping You?

God has given you gifts to deal specifically with your unique life and He has given you permission to use them.

“if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭7-8‬ NIV)

What has God given you to do?

Just do it.

Cheerfully.
