Catch a Glimpse

neither-height-nor-depth-nor-anything-else-in-all-creation-will-be-able-to-separate-us-from-the-love-of-god

You are loved with a love so powerful that when you catch a glimpse of it, it changes you. It gives you hope. It makes you want more of God and God wants you to have more of Him too.

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”    James 1:25 MSG

Even a glimpse of God’s love through Jesus for you is powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation in your heart.

Love moves us to action.

So…act on it.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Do what God is asking you to do.

Forgive that person who doesn’t deserve it.

Give that small gift to that person who isn’t expecting it.

Take a walk and ask Jesus to fill you with the truth of His overwhelming love for you with each step you take.

Speak the truth in love.

I didn’t say speak nice to everyone, I said to speak the truth in love. If you really love them, you will tell them the truth.

Really love them.

What is the truth of God’s unearnable, unending love inspiring you to do today?

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.

Grab your glimpse and go after it!

New Perspective, New Future

Perspective Quotes 9

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”     Philippians 3:13-15 NIV

To live in your God-given identity, you will have to exchange your old perspective for God’s perspective.

You will have to learn the skill of leaving what is behind you, behind you and keeping what God has called you to be in front of you.

What does it mean to live by faith and not by sight? It means making decisions on how to live based on where God has called you to go, not where you have been before.

It’s faith because you haven’t seen it yet.

It’s faith because you are hoping for something different than you have had before.

It’s faith because you are becoming someone new in Christ that you haven’t been before.

The direction where you are looking makes a difference in the direction you are going…and it takes the same energy.

You can stay stuck in self- pity or look to Jesus for self-confidence.

Look back and make yourself miserable or look forward in faith and live your destiny – it takes the same energy. It’s habit, it’s intention, it’s determination and it’s faith.

My friend, spend your energy today believing God for impossible things you can’t see yet and leave the past with all its mistakes and betrayals where it is – the past.

Are you looking at your future through eyes of experience or eyes of faith?

What are you trusting God with today?

P.S. God will heal the wounds of your past while giving you His vision for your future.

Just Do It

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”
(James 1:25 MSG)

You don’t have to have the whole plan to implement what God has shown you.

Even a glimpse of what God wants for your life can be powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation.

Action trumps intention every time.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Intentions do not bring joy and blessings, actions do.

Intention does nothing for you or those around you, actions do.

Act on it.

Make that phone call.

Ask that person for forgiveness.

Give that small gift.

Take a walk.

Speak the truth…in love.

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.

Act On It

You don’t have to have the whole plan, see the whole picture or even walk with God for a long time to implement what He has shown you.

Your Choice

Every day you get to chose which life you are going to live in: an old life of self centered obsession or a new life of love in Christ. Both are readily available to you every day. Both are initiated by focus.

What you focus on determines your perspective.

When you focus on what you need, what you deserve, what you should have, a self centered perspective dictates how you see your world and it fails to meet your needs.

When you focus on Christ first, His grace, His gifts, His love, your perspective shifts to see the world around more clearly. You begin to see what others need, who needs grace and who needs support.

When you look to God to get what you need instead of expecting others to fill them, you are free. Free to grow, free to give, free to pursue your purpose instead of chasing after the empty pursuit of getting acceptance.

“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.

Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense.

Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” (‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭12-14‬ MSG)

You have been chosen by God to live a life of freedom and purpose.

Choose to walk in it by putting on what God has already given you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength and discipline.

Make a Plan

Even if it is only five minutes, take some time today to plan. To ask God for direction and wisdom. For vision and hope.

The craziness of the holiday season is over and a new rhythm of life is about to begin. Without much thought, the rhythm could revert to habit or bend to the urgent.

When you “plan” with God (hold it gently), you set the rhythm of the next season with Him.

Not with the old habits, new urgencies, or always present necessities but with God.

With His wisdom, His vision and His faith.

Take some time today to plan the things you want to do in the next six months.

Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭5‬ MSG)

What do you want to do on purpose in the next six months?

What things are non-negotiable?

What is possible with God?
