Stay Calm

But Moses told the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Israelites were stuck between the sea and their former slave masters coming to recapture them. Hemmed in by the mountains on both sides, they had no way out and no way forward. Their newfound freedom seemed fleetingly short and ultimately doomed.

It seemed like an impossible situation.

They knew that God had delivered them from slavery but little more. They had not been free long enough to learn how powerful He is. They didn’t know that He would fight for them, split the sea before them and rescue them.

They did not know God…yet.

When you don’t want to go back but don’t know how you are going to go forward, stand still.

When going forward looks impossible, stay calm.

Jesus goes before you.

Jesus goes behind you.

Jesus stands next to you.

Don’t let fear dictate your decisions.

The LORD Himself will fight for you.

Just stay calm.

You get to know God as you trust Him to be God in your life.

When You Change…

“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.” (Luke 9:16 NIV)

When faced with an overwhelming lack of resources, Jesus did what he always did- he took what he had, looked up to heaven and gave thanks.

Instead of looking at what he needed,
He gave thanks for what he had.

Instead of looking around at the impossible situation,
He looked up to his Father who can do the impossible.

And he gave thanks.

I am always amazed that when Jesus was faced with the most difficult situations, he stopped and gave thanks to God.

Being thankful is one of those amazingly simple things that can change everything.

It can change your outlook and your attitude.

It can open your heart and makes room for the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace and more.

It is a game changer.
It is amazing how being thankful for something changes the way you see it.

And apparently, miracles like to follow thankful moments.

When we stop, give thanks for what we have and ask God to bless it, miracles happen.

May your day be filled with moments of thanksgiving, game changing miracles, and an entire new way to see your world.
