Hold Onto Hope

Do you have something in your life that you don’t think God can change?

You know, the places that you don’t think God can reach.

That thing you think God can’t change or that place that you don’t believe God can help.

I call those things, my “even there” places.

Psalm 139:9-10 says, “If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.”(NIV)

No matter how difficult or dark your situation is today, Jesus can guide you out.

Because of Jesus, God’s power flows unhindered to you.

His healing love can wash over you.

His help is available to you.

He will give you the support you need.

Hold onto hope – there is no place that God can’t reach, heal, or restore …even there.

Hold On

I want to encourage you today that no matter how dark the situation is, believe that God can do something in it anyway.

I want to challenge you to dare to trust Him in the desert – there is a promised land and you are on your way to it.

My prayer for you is that like Abraham you will decide to live today not based on what you can’t do but on what God can do through you. His power sustaining you to walk, to love, to care and to be fully alive even though you may feel mostly dead inside.

“Abraham was first named ‘father’ and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing.

When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Long before Abraham saw the fruit of the promise, he believed God anyway. Though everything in his life seemed to indicate otherwise, he lived his life, every day, not looking at the impossibility of the promise but in the possibility of God.

I am sure that there were times that Abraham barely believed. I know that there were days that he was only holding on to a bare thread of hope…but he held on.

Hold on, my friend, you may only have a thread of hope, but in Christ, that thread is stronger than what you face and will hold against that which you fear.

I know you don’t see how it will happen but God does.

Hold on.

Trust

I want to encourage you today that no matter how dark the situation may seem, to trust God to do something about it anyway.

I want to challenge you to dare to trust Him in the desert. There IS a promised land and you are on your way to it.

“When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

My prayer is that you will decide to live your life not based on what you can’t do but on what God can do through you.

Long before he saw the fruit of the promise, Abraham believed God.

Though everything in his life seemed to indicate otherwise, He lived his life, every day, not looking at the impossibility of the promise but in the possibility of God.

Because God initiated it, Abraham believed that God would fulfill it.

I am sure that there were times that Abraham barely believed. I know that there were days that he was only holding on to a bare thread of hope…but he held on.

God can do the impossible in you and through you.

Hold on.

Hold on, my friend, you may have only had a thread of hope but in Christ, that thread is stronger than what you face and will hold against that which you fear.

Not Shaken

“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”
‭‭Psalm ‭16:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

There may be a lot of reasons that you feel shaken up right now. You may not even be sure how you are going to navigate the day before you.

I want you to know that Jesus will give you everything you need to do His will today.

He will not leave you and will not forsake you. He will walk with you through every moment and provide for you through resources you can not see.

“Since God assured us, ‘I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,’ we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I am praying that today you will have the courage to face the hard facts and do the hard thing, my friend. That you will saturate yourself in the Word of God and walk boldly into an unknown future knowing that Jesus walks beside you every step of the way.

I am praying for a peace that passes all understanding and a hope that will carry you to the other side. I am praying for bold faith and fearless obedience as you look to God to provide what you need.

Take some to time to bless the Lord, worship Him and remind yourself of His faithfulness.

Then lay all your fears at His feet and face the day with courage.

Hopeful

Hope is a powerful thing. With it you can do almost anything. Without it, the smallest task is overwhelming.

Hopelessness is a crippling, soul- sucking lie that is used to sabotage our lives and suffocate our faith.

Hopefulness is the life-altering knowledge that God is real, present and participating in your life.

When all that I am is laid before the Great I Am, all my weaknesses, strengths, thoughts, doubts, fears and dreams become quiet and the weight of the world is taken off my weak human shoulders and placed upon Him.

When I am filled with hope, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of purpose and a calming sense of rest.

Maybe this is what Jesus meant when he said:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28, 29 NIV)

You don’t have to work for hope, you just have to ask for help. God’s help comes God’s hope.

May “all that you are” find rest in the presence of the Almighty as you give him what you are carrying and receive from him what you need today.

Sustained

‬‬I remember a time a few years ago when I was discouraged and heartbroken. My hopes had been swept away by a flood of circumstances I could not have forseen. I could not go back to where I was before and I could not stay where I was at. I could only walk forward into a future that I had not anticipated or imagined.

I clung to Jesus. I grabbed hold of the promise that He would never leave me or forsake me. I tried to trust that He could redeem the circumstances as I watched everything crumble around me. I tried and failed- I couldn’t find trust or hope within my soul. Only heartbreak and fear.

The following verse became the words I held onto:

“Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed.” Psalms 119:116 NIV

One morning I got early and took a walk. We were living in Las Vegas and our neighborhood edged the desert. With worship music loaded on my iPod, I set out to breathe deep and breathe in the presence of God. As I turned the corner out of my neighborhood and onto the desert road behind it, the song “Great is Thy Faithfulness” began. The sun was just rising over Red Rock Canyon and it was so beautiful that I almost dropped to my knees.

I heard God’s whisper, “Hold on, your hopes are not lost. I am faithful to complete what I have started in you. I will sustain you through this and strengthen you in it. My faithfulness knows no end.”

It was a turning point for me. I carried that promise through a time that got harder long before it got better.

That moment came back to me yesterday when I listened to Jordan Smith’s rendition of “Great is Thy Faithfullness” on The Voice. It was a beautiful and powerful performance.

God IS faithful.

It is in the midst of the hardest of times that you discover God’s faithfulness. It is through the darkest of times that God sustains you when you can’t sustain yourself. It is when you don’t feel like you have any faith left that His faithfulness carries you.

Hold on, your hopes are not lost. Jesus is faithful to complete what He has started in you. He will sustain you through this time and strengthen you in it. God’s faithfulness knows no end.
