Hide Here

Sometimes you just need a place to hide for a while.

Something happens and you feel vulnerable and wounded.

You want to crawl back under the covers and not face the world.

There is a place to hide in for a while that is a healing place.

A safe place.

And that place is God, Himself.

“For you are my hiding place;

you protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.”

Psalm 32:7 NLT

Today, Jesus invites you into the center of God’s love and says to you, “Hide here.”

Instead of crawling back in bed, crawl under God’s covering of unconditional love.

Let Him embrace you and hold you today.

Allow His love to heal your soul.

Sometimes you just need a place to hide for a while.

Something happens and you feel vulnerable and wounded.

You want to crawl back under the covers and not face your world.

Only life doesn’t work that way.

You still have things to do, people to take care of …life demands doing, especially when trouble surrounds.

“For you are my hiding place;

you protect me from trouble.

You surround me with songs of victory.”

Psalm 32:7 NLT

There is a place to hide in for a while that is a healing place.

A safe place.

A place of refuge where gentle songs of victory, thanksgiving, and praise echo all around you.

That place is God himself.

He invites you into Himself and says, “Hide here– let Me be your refuge in the storm”.

Instead of crawling back in bed, crawl under God’s covering of unconditional love in Christ Jesus who has rescued, redeemed and is using the trouble you are facing today to recreate you into a person who rises to the challenge and overcomes it in His strength.

Tornado Warning

We are in the middle of our first storm of the season and so far it has been a mild one with gentle, continuous rains all day long. Although, yesterday afternoon we did have a tornado warning for Roseville. It was broadcasted at the same time that the sun broke through the clouds and rain ceased. Funny how that happens. Just when you think the storm is passing, it is actually about to get much worse.

Life can be like that, too. Just when you think you are going to get a break from the storm you have been “managing”, it looks like it might take a turn for the worse.

You have two choices at that moment: go on as you have been and ignore the warning or get into a place of shelter as fast as you can to wait out the worst of it.

I suggest option number two. When things get worse- find a place of refuge and stay there for as long as necessary.

“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:1, 2 NLT)

I don’t think a tornado manifested in Roseville yesterday but I know that there are storms raging in many of my friends lives right now that seem like they are getting worse before they will get better. Get to your hiding place in the arms of God and wait it our there. He is the fortress you can rest in and security you are longing for.
