Refuge and Fortress

“I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge

and my fortress, my God,

in whom I trust.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭91:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus came so that you could live so close to the Father that the shadow of His love would cover you.

He went to the cross so that the presence of Almighty could be a refuge from the storm raging around you and a fortress of peace to run to when you are weary of fighting.

Jesus defeated death and cleared the way so you could be free to live fully in the power of God. He is the door into the refuge of God’s presence and the key to open it is trust.

Are you trusting Jesus today or are you trying to do it all yourself?

Dwell

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭91:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The word dwell invokes the picture of where you live.

Where you wake up in the morning, brush your teeth and get ready for your day.

It is the place where all your “stuff” is, no matter how much stuff you have.

It is the place at the end of the day that you surrender to sleep and recharge.

You are made to dwell in the shelter of God’s presence.

To wake to His love, live in His love, rest in His love.

Jesus made it possible so you could live this today and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty’s love everyday after.

Right Now

God’s love for you is for right now. Not later. Now.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, God’s love cuts right through the business of life and breathes into you the very heart of it- His heart, His LIFE.

“For right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation:

Trust steadily in God,
hope unswervingly,
love extravagantly.
And the best of the three is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 MSG

Don’t wait for tomorrow to trust.
Trust today.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to hope.
Hope today.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to love.
Love today.

Steadily.

Unswervingly.

Extravagantly.

Right now.

A Quiet Secure Place

“I’m asking GOD for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long.

I’ll contemplate his beauty; I’ll study at his feet.

That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic.”

Psalm 27:4-5 MSG

King David prayed for one thing: to live WITH God every day. To enjoy Him, learn from Him and have a safe place to escape to when the world goes nuts. He lived in a palace but longed to live in the temple with God.

The one thing David longed for, Jesus made a possibility.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:19,  “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?”

Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, you are able to experience this kind of relationship with God every day, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

Are you stressed and overwhelmed today?

Escape to the presence of God within you and let the beauty of the Holy Spirit fill your soul with peace that is untouched by world and all it’s pressures.

God’s Love

“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but GOD’s purpose prevails.” ‭

Proverbs 19:21 MSG

God’s purpose for your life is that you would have an unhindered relationship with you through Jesus.

His plan for your life is for His love to restore you completely into who He created you to be.

This life is not about doing all the right things, it is about letting Jesus grow the right things in you.

The wonderful thing about being in a relationship with God is that while our plans don’t always work out, God will always works His purpose into them.

God loves you whether or not your plans fail or succeed.

He loves you.

In Your Darkest Moments

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.” 1 Timothy 1:16 NIV

If you are feeling like the worst of sinners right now, know that you are who Jesus came for.

Run to Him.

His arms are open.

He has more patience for you than you have for yourself.

This is not about being a perfect Christian, it is about letting Him love you when you feel like you are at your darkest.

Even There

Thursday
Do you have something in your life that you don’t think God can change?
I call those things, my “even there” places.

You know, the places that you don’t think God can reach.

That thing you think God can’t change or that place that you don’t believe God can help.

Psalm 139:9-10 says,

“If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.”
(NIV)

No matter how difficult or dark your situation, Jesus can guide you out. He will give you the support you need. Because of Jesus, God’s power flows unhindered to you. His healing love can wash over you. His help is available to you.

There is no place that God can’t reach, heal, and restore even there.

Strong Love

Tuesday

God will use the challenge you are facing today to show you how strong His love is.

How good He is.

How much He loves you.

How much He cares for you.

Faith in the Father’s love is what held Jesus to the cross, not the nails in His hands.

The Father’s love is not a weak thing. He is able to hold unspeakable pain and unquenchable peace at the same time.

In these uncertain times, fear roars ferociously to unseat our peace while the Father’s love meets us in the midst of chaos and brings His to us, Himself, His presence.

He is with you right now.

And He IS love.

“Beloved friends, let us love one another; because love is from God; and everyone who loves has God as his Father and knows God. Those who do not love, do not know God; because God is love.

Here is how God showed his love among us: God sent his only Son into the world so that through him we might have life”.

1 John 4:8 -9

Don’t Wait Until Tomorrow

Friday
“I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
You don’t have to strive to take care of “number one” or stress to win the approval of others.
You are called by God.
You are loved by your Heavenly Father.
You are cared for by Jesus.
You don’t have to wait until tomorrow to live loved.
You don’t have to wait until you get your life altogether or until you “get better” at whatever you are trying to get better at.
Because of what Jesus did, you have the right to live as a cherished and loved child of God every day, including this one.
And as you do, you will not walk alone, Jesus will walk with you.
He will be your companion and guide you.
He will remind you that you are chosen by God to make a difference today in the world you live in.
He will remind you that your value doesn’t depend on what others think of you but it is anchored on what God thinks of you.
He thinks you are His amazing kid and loves you when you are a mess and loves you when you are all cleaned up and in every moment in between.
It is time to start living your life in solid truth of God’s call, love, and care for you.
Don’t wait until tomorrow, start living in it today.

Awake and Aware

Tuesday

But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:11 MSG‬‬

If you are aware of anything today – be aware of God.

If you are afraid of anything – be afraid of getting so busy making a living that you miss making a life.

If you have to make a do to list – put “recognizing God ‘s presence” in the top spot.

Take care of whatever you need to take care of today but make sure to make room for God to interrupt, intervene, and weave Himself into each thing you do with His love, His mercy, His perspective, His grace, His strength and His joy.

If you are wondering whether God is present in your life, He is and He longs to connect with you. You are one of His favorites.

What does being aware of God mean to you?

Have you been so distracted that you are oblivious to God?

May the awareness of God supersede all else as you are embraced by a Savior who loves you unconditionally and completely.
