When God “tests” your heart, it isn’t a test to pass or fail.
“The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.”  ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬
It is a purifying of the soul.
The crucible is a vessel that can take extreme heat and not melt. It is used to melt the silver so that the impurities of the precious metal will rise to the top. Then the refiner will skim it off the top.
It is the same with your heart. The Great Refiner will use the hot fires of life to cause the impurities in your heart to be revealed so He can clear them out.
He will bring to the surface the things that are holding you back from loving freely, what is tripping you up in your relationships, what is sabotaging your peace.
Things that don’t belong there but have never been processed out.
Your job is to stay in His Hand, deal with what comes up (which almost always begins with repentance or forgiveness) and allow the healing balm of His love to make you new.

Your Need

The glorious riches of God have not been used up.
His resources have not been depleted.
His kingdom does not work the way the earth’s kingdom does. It does not go bankrupt, it does not come with sanctions.  God’s measure of giving doesn’t mirror man’s way of giving.  He does not give according to your goodness but according to His own.
 All of it is accessed through Jesus Christ.
He is the bridge between you and God.
He is the payment for your sin.
He is the redeemer of what has been stolen.
He is the restorer of what has been lost.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬
He who has saved you sacrificed Himself for you, stands as an advocate to the Father on your behalf, is able to meet your every need.
What do you need?
Jesus is able. 

Wait 

I wait for your salvation, Lord, and I follow your commands. (Psalm 119:166 NIV)

Sometimes you have to wait. You have to be patient. You have to let go of your need to control and jump in to fix it your way and satisfy your need to push forward and make something happen just because you want to.

Sometimes, Jesus askes you to chill out and trust him. To wait and to not do anything as he prepares the next step, the next place, the next relationship, the next ministry, the next thing.

Wait for his salvation instead of trying to manufacture your own.

Wait…but don’t just wait.

Wait in hope.

Wait in faith.

Wait in love.

Wait for God to what only He can do and meanwhile do what only you can do.

Pursue the direction He has already given you and feed hope.

Be faithful to what He has already given you to do and feed your faith.

Work hard to love those around you because they need to be loved.

Waiting is not passive but an internal expectation of hope for the future while actively working on what God has already given you to do today.

Trust Jesus enough to not know what is going to happen.

Sometimes you only get direction for one step at a time.

Take the step.

Wait.

Wait in hope.

Wait in faith.

Wait in love.

Rest in Jesus.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

God is not done with you. He may have put a pause on things but you can trust him to complete what he has started in you.

Yes, this.

How many times have you wished that the Lord would show up and just tell you what was about to happen? You think that maybe if you knew what would happen, you would be better prepared to handle it.

Mary had that opportunity. The Lord showed up and told her what her story would be. She would be “the virgin” of Isaiah 7:14. Mary was a good Jewish girl, she would know what that meant.

It is one thing to know what it means and another to live through it.

She would be rejected before she was accepted, desperate before she was provided for, slandered long before she was ever believed. She knew the road before her would not be easy and the story she had imagined for her life would be drastically different…but she said yes. She said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled”.

Yes, this:

– Saying yes when you know it will be hard.

– Trusting God when things are not happening the way you thought they would.

– Following God when He leads you to stop what your doing with no discernible reason.

I believe is the great mercy of God that He leads us one step at a time.

I believe God has a plan for your life and is able to bring it to pass.

I believe it will be harder than you thought it would be but more worth it than you can imagine.

Yes, this.

Don’t be afraid. God will empower to walk in His purposes and guide you faithfully through every challenge that comes.

You will never know what God can do through you unless you say yes like this.

Need

is ABLE to meet your every need.

Jesus is able.

The Best Rest


The very best way to possess your promised land is to rest.

Worry is wasted energy.
Striving is useless.
Resting is powerful.

It is being fully persuaded that God is able, willing and faithful do what He has promised. 

It is a life of outward obedience and inward rest. It is stating the obvious and recognizing the miraculous at the same time.

Rest.

Stop working, striving and people pleasing.

Rest.

Start believing, trusting and go after God pleasing.

You are living for an audience of One and it is His greatest pleasure for you to rest in His provision.

Rest.

“He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:21‬ ‭NLT‬

You are called to this- the best rest. It is where your greatest strength lies and it is the secrete weapon of a joy filled life: resting not in the promises but in the Promiser.

Able 

  

The limitless ability of God is beyond what I can wrap my brain around. However, just because I can’t understand something doesn’t mean it isn’t true. 

Light travels at 299,792,458 metres per second whether or not I understand how it does it. I don’t worry about how it works, I just flip on the light when I need to. 

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,” Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭NIV

“The literal translation of this passage from the Greek expresses the thought in this way: 

God is not merely able but abundantly and generously able, with an infinite surplus of resources and eternally able to “do what he had promised”. 

He is the God of limitless resources- the only limit comes from us. Our requests, our thoughts and our prayers are too small,and our expectation are too low. 

God is trying to raise our vision to a higher level, call us to have greater expectations and thereby bring us to greater appropriation. 

Shall we continue living in a way that mocks His will and denies His Word? 

There is no limit to what we may ask and expect of our glorious El Shaddai – our Almighty God. And there is no way for us to measure His blessing, for He is “able to do immeasurably mo than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Eph. 3:20)”

You don’t have to understand how God will provide, you just have to trust Him to do it. 

You don’t have to figure out how God is going to fulfill His part, you simply have to do your part and step out in faith.

Trust and obey.  

Let the worry go to the wind and the anxiety drift to the bottom of the sea. Stop trying to figure out how it is going to happen and just do what you know God has asked you to do today. 

Years ago a good friend told me, “When God guides, He provides”.
