How Regret Can Be Gift

God knows you.

He knows your strengths and weaknesses.

He knows every regret you have ever had and why you have it.

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.”

Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭1‬ NIV

More than that, God knows how you can grow from it.

God can change your regret into a gift.

God can turn a memory of disappointment into a moment of discovery, a revelation of wisdom, a catalyst for change.

You don’t have to repeat the past. You don’t have to live with regret.

In Christ, you are a new creation and have His power within you to change, to transform, to grow.

Useless regrets are the ones you don’t learn from.

May there be NO useless regrets in your life.

May you learn from every one of them.

May God use every regret to set you free to be who He has created you to be.

What regret can God transform into a gift today?

Catch a Glimpse

neither-height-nor-depth-nor-anything-else-in-all-creation-will-be-able-to-separate-us-from-the-love-of-god

You are loved with a love so powerful that when you catch a glimpse of it, it changes you. It gives you hope. It makes you want more of God and God wants you to have more of Him too.

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”    James 1:25 MSG

Even a glimpse of God’s love through Jesus for you is powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation in your heart.

Love moves us to action.

So…act on it.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Do what God is asking you to do.

Forgive that person who doesn’t deserve it.

Give that small gift to that person who isn’t expecting it.

Take a walk and ask Jesus to fill you with the truth of His overwhelming love for you with each step you take.

Speak the truth in love.

I didn’t say speak nice to everyone, I said to speak the truth in love. If you really love them, you will tell them the truth.

Really love them.

What is the truth of God’s unearnable, unending love inspiring you to do today?

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.

Grab your glimpse and go after it!

What is Christmas About?

It is all about relationship.

Not religion.

His birth, every breath, every step, every person Jesus talked to, touched, healed and gave hope to was about relationship.

Restoring it.

Reconciling it.

Renewing your relationship with God.

It is the same today.

Jesus has made Himself available to you every moment of every day not so that He can control you but so He can love you.

So He can restore and renew you.

Jesus is a gift to be opened and experienced every day.

Gifts to give

“Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people!”
1 Corinthians 12:7 MSG

As the gift-buying season begins, I want to remind you that God has already given you precious gifts to give this year.

Gifts unique to you.

Gifts that are meant to be given.

By using the gifts God has given you, the talents of your hands, the strengths of your personality, the driving passion of your heart, God uses you to reveal Himself to others.

It is not a prideful thing to use your gifts for the glory of God, it is needful.

The world needs people who are connected to Jesus, using their gifts so that God is revealed and those people can get connected to Him. When people are connected to Jesus they pass from death to life and from darkness to light.  With Him, they begin to develop their gifts so that others can get connected to God and pass from death to life… you get the picture.

In the midst of the gift buying madness, may you freely and generously give to others the rich gifts God has given you.

May you grow them, practice them relentlessly and walk in them confidently until they are an extension of who you are to the glory of God.

What gifts has God given you?

How are you going to use them to bless someone today?

Your Gifts

Leo-Buscaglia-Your-talent-is-Gods-gift-to-you-What-you-do-with-it-is-your-gift-back-to-God
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The gift that you are with your smile and words, your hands and heart, how you cook or clean, create or organize, how you lead and follow, bless and pray is meant to be given, not hidden.
God has given you gifts.
All kinds.
Some come as talent.
Others are revealed in character.
Some are gifts to you as well as through you that bring such joy that you can’t wait to share them.
Some are so close to your heart that you are afraid to reveal them.
But gifts are made for giving.
Salt is made for seasoning.
Light is made for lighting.
Gifts are made for giving.
The more precious they are to you, the more powerful they will be for others.
The gifts you have been given are to be given away: to serve, to love, to mend, to tend, to bless, to build.

Grow Your Gift

“For this reason, I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You must tend to a fire to keep it going.

In California, we had a fireplace in our little living room that we would use to warm the house during the few cold, damp winter months. I loved the warmth but I loved the ambiance that it created. I actually had a terrible time keeping it going.  My husband was fabulous at it. I would watch him carefully build it, pay attention to it, poke at it, feed it and adjust it until it was a blazing fire warming the whole house. There were days when he would get the fire started for me in the morning and then leave. I would gaze into the flames for a few minutes and then get engrossed in reading or writing. I would forget about the fire until I realized it was only a smoldering pile of half-burnt wood. It gave me an appreciation of what “fanning the Flame” means.

When God gives you a gift, it comes in a spark. A small light with great potential but will not grow unless it is fed, prodded, poked and paid attention to.

Jesus gives it to you and expects YOU to fan it into a fire.

God gives you the gift but expects you to grow it.

The verse after “fan the flame” is “God has not given us a Spirit of fear”.  God knows that fear is the number one reason we don’t grow our gifts, so he gives us something more powerful than fear: Himself.

When God sparks a gift for you to use and grow in, He helps you grow it with three key things:

Power

Love

Self Discipline

Don’t focus on the fear, my friend. Focus on the Spirit of God within you and fan the flame of what Jesus has given to you.

What has God sparked in you?

What are you doing to grow it?

What is stopping you?

Feelings and What To Do With Them

img_7139

Feelings are the colors of the soul and a part of being human.

Feelings are a gift.

They are indicators and gauges, letting us know where we are emotionally and what is going on inside.

Feelings are not based on truths but perceptions and you can not base your life on them.

They are a gift for you to experience, not a guide for you to follow.

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭4‬ NIV

Feelings will ebb and flow, change and shift but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

He is the truth you can build your life on and the guide for you to follow. He is the rock that will not be moved and the faithfulness that does not fail.

What you feel is valid and real. They are real feelings. Feel them, then look to Jesus and ask Him to show you what to do with them.

What feelings are you experiencing?

Do they line up with the truth of God’s Word?

What is Jesus guiding you to do today?
