Heavenly Peace

u3367
As you count down the days to Christmas, take a minute to focus on what is important and in the craziness continue to refocus on your Creator.
It is His love you are celebrating.
This miraculous gift of the Son, this unquenchable love of the Father, this daily guide of the Spirit.
“for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Instead of replaying past moments or creating perfect scenarios in your head of the near future, let it be what it will be.
Enjoy the imperfections of this day and those to come.
Know that everything “being perfect” will not create the feeling of fulfillment you are looking for.
You are looking for love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness…. and these are fruits of the Spirit (not fruits of the season).
May you be filled with the Heavenly Peace of God’s Spirit as you walk among the complicated chaos of the humans around you.

Be Here

As you countdown the days to Christmas, take a minute to focus on what is important and in the craziness continue to refocus on your Creator.

Instead of replaying past moments or creating perfect scenarios in your head of the very near future, be here.

Enjoy the imperfections of this day and those to come.

Know that everything “being perfect” will not create the feeling of fulfillment you are looking for.

You are looking for love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness…. and these are fruits of the Spirit (not fruits of the season).

Be here.

Love here.

Give yourself and those around you lots and lots of grace here and now.

Have a be-present-and-filled-with-the Spirit day.

3 days til Christmas…

You Are Free

The jail cell of bondage is still a cell of bondage no matter how pretty you make it.

God has bought your release from it and will call you to freedom in every area of your life that needs it.

You are created to live everyday with overwhelming love, deep joy, persistent peace, solid patience, thoughtful kindness, soul deep goodness, stubborn faithfulness, grace filled gentleness and Spirit inspired self control.

What a beautiful existence, can you imagine?

God wants you to do more than imagine it,  He wants you to live it.

You are free.

What is holding you back from living it?

Fresh Fruit

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” (‭Psalm‬ ‭92‬:‭14-15‬ NIV)

Aging is a part of the journey.

It is a daily reminder that every day we are here, we are one day closer to heaven.

In Christ, your body will get old but your spirit will not. Your body will get weak but your spirit can get stronger.

In Christ, age is not an indication of fruitfulness, unless of course it is to bear more fruit, fresh fruit and the sweetest fruit of the Spirit.

In Christ, there is no such thing as “too old” to be used by God or too old to bear rich spiritual fruit.

Instead of making lists for what you what to do before you get too old, what if you listed what fruit fresh you want to bear in it?

– fresh love,
– overflowing joyfulness
– soul deep peacefulness
– growing in kindness
– exemplifying patience
– grace filled gentleness
– cultivated faithfulness
– practiced and practical
self-control.

There is no age limit on transformation in Christ. No age limit to being filled to the brim with His Spirit.

Begin today and never stop.

Begin to grasp that the closer you get to heaven the fresher the fruit of the Spirit will be.

Fresh Fruit

20131103-115218.jpg

On my way home from the Retreat last week, I swung by The Nugget and picked up some bright red beautiful strawberries. Sunday flew by and Monday I was sooooo sick. No food for me. By the time I re-entered the food eating world, those strawberries sitting out on the counter had begun to grow mold. I tossed them.

As I mourned the loss of those strawberries, I thought about the fruit of the Spirit:

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23 NIV)

I thought about how often we are living our lives in “moldy love, old joy, last weeks peace, etc”. Fruit is best when it is fresh. It is the same with the fruit of the Spirit.

– Fruit isn’t achieved by working, but is birthed by abiding.
– Fruit is fragile.
– Fruit is beautiful.
– Fruit nourishes.

If I want fresh joy to infuse my spirit, I don’t get it by trying to be joyful- I get it by abiding in God’s presence.

I can’t walk in God’s peace until I get God’s perspective.

When I focus on God’s faithfulness to me, a desire to be faithful is birthed in me, and so on.

How is your spiritual fruit looking?
Are you holding on to moldy love? Jaded joy? Puny peace?

Let it go.

Sink your roots deep, lift your limbs to heaven and drink in the Light of His Grace.

Fresh fruit is best.

Don’t settle for less- you don’t have to live that way.
