He Goes Before You

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You can face today with strength because God is with you.

You can face the future with courage because God goes before you into it.

The scripture above was spoken by Moses as he commissioned Joshua to take the children of Israel into the promised land.

A nation of former slaves facing a future of freedom.

They knew it would not be easy.

They knew they were going to have to fight for it.

They were leaving their past behind and venturing together into a new normal.

You don’t have to know all the details of what is to come. You just need to know God has called you to it and he will give you what you need, when you need it, to live it.

Rest well, stop worrying and meet the battle head on to take possession of God’s promised land for you.

What is your next step?

What will be your new normal?

What will you have to fight once you get there?

Equipped to Change

When God gives you a new vision for your life, He will equip you to live it.

When He gives you a new revelation of His relationship with you, He will empower you to experience it.

But new visions and new revelations will always come with a fight.

Whether it is the resistance of your flesh or the stubbornness of old mindsets, you will have to fight for what God has shown you and He will arm you for that as well.

“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My prayer for you today is that you would know His love as He pours His strength into you.

I pray that you would know His peace as you lean on him.

I pray that you would rest in God’s grace as you walk by His guidance.

I pray that you would trust Him with the future and focus simply on the task before you.

I pray that you would be released from the restlessness within you as you receive a new determination to go forward in faith.

You are stronger than you know because you know where your strength comes from and whose Right Hand sustains you.

You have been equipped to change.

Pick your weapons and fight for it.

Tree By Tree

I was talking to my friend on the phone last week and she shared something that encouraged me so much that I wanted to share it with you (with permission, of course):

“I was looking out my back window into the forest, thinking how beautiful it was.  I was also looking at how dense it was and that I could not see my way through.  It made me think of how often we can not see a way through, but God can.  We don’t even know what is on the other side.  Is there a cliff, an ocean, a valley?

That day on Feb 13th, in Streams in the Desert, the verse was Joshua 17:18.

“The forested hill country will be yours.”

All I could think about is how?

It said, “God instructed them (the tribes of Israel) to clear the forest.”

It also stated, “Gain wealth from the terraced slopes that are now hidden by the forests.”

I realized that God was saying to clear the forest it needed to be tree by tree, action by action.  I also loved that by doing this God will bless you with the territory you are discovering.

To gain His will it is tree by tree.

I have been waiting a lot.  So, for me, it meant to take action.  To do!  I can not stay in my camp among the forest waiting while I tend to that.  It is time to knock a few trees down, and as I do, I also realized things will become clearer.  God is going to show me the way.”  – Renee Evans

Maybe you can’t see your way through today and can only see the great forest of discouragement before you.

God is telling us to take hold of His will by taking action and cutting down one tree at a time.

Dealing with one issue at a time.

Reconciling one relationship at a time.

Being obedient to Him one day at a time.

Trusting Him to make a way where you can see no way.

It is time to take back your territory from the enemy tree by tree. To get out of the place you have been camping and begin to take hold of the land God has given you.

Rise up! God has already given you what you need to do it.

What is the first tree that God is asking you to cut down?

Fight For It

Whenever you feel like you are in a fight for your life- you are. You are fighting for the life God has created you to live in Him through Christ.

God has a purpose for your life,
a place for your gifts to flourish and people whose lives will be changed by God’s work through you.

But…

You are going to have to fight for it.

If your life is to have any eternal impact, you have a target on your back and battle before you.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If the enemy is trying to stop you,
you can bet it is because God has purpose for you.

A purpose that is bigger than you.

A purpose that can only be done by the power of God in you.

A purpose that is worth fighting for.

The first step towards living in your purpose in God is to recognize that you are entering a war.

The second step is to run to God.

God is not expecting you to fight without Him, on the contrary- He is prepared to train you, equip you and go out with you.

If discouragement is bearing down on you, don’t quit- fight!

Fight for God’s purposes in you,

Fight for the place He has given you,

Fight for the people who will be impacted by you.

Don’t quit, fight.

He Goes Before You

You can face the day before you with strength because you know that God is with you.

You can face the future with courage because you know that God goes before you into it.

“The LORD is indeed going before you – he will be with you; he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged!” (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭8‬ NET)

Don’t Let Go

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ NIV)

In order to take hold of what God has for you, you must let go of what holds you back.

Let go of trying to earn God’s love.
Don’t let go of living in God’s grace.

Let go of your fear of failure.
Don’t let go of your faith in God.

Let go of perfectionism.
Don’t let go of striving for excellence.

Let go of habits that sabotage your growth.
Don’t let go of the determination to change.

Let go of trying to control everything.
Don’t let go of surrendering everything to God.

Press on, fight for and believe that God took hold of you to transform you.

He knows why, He knows how and most importantly, He knows you.

God will get you there and that is worth fighting for.
