Making the Most of It

“Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”

Colossians‬ ‭4‬:‭5-6‬ MSG

Every conversation you have today is an opportunity to love.

To give grace room to heal.

You have permission to:

reach out,

extend grace,

do the extraordinary thing,

go the extra mile,

be wise and

be intentional with your words.

Be obedient to the little nudges from the Holy Spirit, especially the ones that push you outside your comfort zone.

God has put you where you are for a reason.

Be brave and seize every opportunity Jesus brings you today. It may make more of a difference in someone’s life than you can possibly imagine.

If Jesus brings you to it, do it.

Use Your Words

“Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

James 3:5 NIV

Words are powerful.

The words you say to yourself.

The words you say to others.

You control your words, not the other way around.

You can be honest without being mean.

You can be mean without being honest.

God has given you the great privilege of being the spark that lights the fire.

Whether it is a fire to warm and nourish others or one that burns and destroys them is up to you.

Use your words to light a fire of faith in someone’s heart.

Encourage, uplift, pray for and love those around you today.

What you say matters and impacts people’s lives.

Choose wisely.

Your Words

“Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬
All words hold power.
They set the tone, communicate vision, encourage and lift up or they destroy trust, discourage and complicate the situation.
It is usually the words we plan that help people and the ones we don’t plan that hurt them.
Before you speak, ask yourself if your words are going to help the situation or hurt it?
Also,
It’s okay to say you don’t know.
It’s okay to say nothing at all.
It’s okay to choose to be proactive instead of reactive.
When in doubt, don’t say anything at all.
Spend your time planning the words you want to say and applying self-control to the ones you don’t.
My friend, May your words bring healing to those who desperately need it today and empower those around you to be courageous in pursuing the potential God has put in them.

Hold Onto Hope

I want to encourage you today that no matter how dark the situation may seem to be believe that God can do something in it anyway

I want to challenge you to dare to trust Him in the desert – there is a promised land and you are on your way to it.

My prayer for you is that like Abraham you will decide to live today not based on what you can’t do but on what God can do through you. His power sustaining you to walk, to love, to care and to be fully alive even though you may feel mostly dead inside.

Abraham was first named “father” and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing.

When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Long before Abraham saw the fruit on of the promise, he believed God anyway. Though everything in his life seemed to indicate otherwise, he lived his life, everyday, not looking at the impossibility of the promise but in the possibility of God.

I am sure that there were times that Abraham barely believed. I know that there were days that he was only holding on to a bare thread of hope…but he held on.

Hold on, my friend, you may have only have a thread of hope but in Christ that thread is stronger than what you face and will hold against that which your fear.

I know you don’t see how it will happen but God does.

Hold on.

Hold on to Jesus…He is holding onto you.

Mighty God

Who God is:
Mighty Savior.

Where God is:
With you.

What God does:
He saves you.
He delights in you.
He calms your fears.
He rejoices over you with singing.

“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.””

‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭
3:17 NLT‬‬

In Jesus this verse has been fulfilled. Because of Jesus, I can experience the reality of walking with God every single day.  A reality where I am aware of God’s saving power.  A reality where I can experience His delight in me.

Just the concept of God’s delight for me blows my mind.  I don’t delight in me. I wake up with a mental tally of all the things I’m NOT doing right and all the ways I am not loveable. Yet God, who is perfect and holy, delights in me. He lives with me as I do really boring stuff like the laundry. He is singing songs of joy over me as I sort through the monthly bills wondering how we are going to make it. He smiles with me and enjoys all my quirks.

Because of Jesus.

This  reality CAN be my experience but only if I allow it. If I lift my eyes above my present circumstances and see all the way to heaven.

This reality has already been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus. It is mine as I receive it, as I walk in it, as I think more about what God thinks of me rather than what I think of myself.

Can you hear His joyful song over you?

Do you know He delights in you today?

Have you lifted up your eyes to see your mighty Savior today because He is seeing you.

Restored

Being right with God isn’t the hard part.

The hard part is learning how to live it out.

You have lived a long time being broken.

A long time learning how to cope with it, how to function in it. The good news of Jesus Christ is that He has taken your brokeness upon himself and in return offers you wholeness. To restore your mind, heart, soul and spirit to God’s original design.

He wants to teach you a new way to live.

How to live whole and treasured.

How to live trusting and trusted.

How to live nurtured and nourished.

How to love and be loved.

“He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.” (‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭21-24‬ MSG)

It takes time and perseverance.

God provides the time, we provide the perseverance.

Don’t give up. Everyday you are learning how to live restored in Christ.

“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ NIV)

Hope in God

2015/01/img_0012.jpg
What does hoping in God mean?

It means that you believe that God will do what He has promised to.

It means that you believe that He is good, faithful and powerful.

It means that you are trusting God to be God (and knowing that you are not).

“This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” (Hebrews 6:19 NLT)

When you are resting in the consistent nature of God instead of being worried about the inconsistencies of the world, you are lifted to a new level of worship.

Hoping in God opens the door to new level of intimacy with God.

Rest in who God is instead of what you want Him to do for you.

The storms will come, the challenges will arise and in the midst of it all- God will be God.

Put your hope in God.
