Busy, Hurried and Distracted?

What is your priority today?

When the word “priority” was introduced and used in the English language it was not plural, it was only singular.

It meant, what is the one most important thing?

Modern life has pluralized it into “priorities.”

Now we have five top priorities rather than one.

As a Jesus follower, I want to follow what Jesus defined the priority of life is: a living rich relationship with God.

“Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.”

Matthew 6:30-33 MSG

Jesus said this is what we are made for and what He died for.

So you and I can make God our priority and everything else flows out of that.

Modern life keeps us waist-deep in the busyness which leads to hurriedness which leads to a distracted, harried pace of life and chokes out time with God.

Make your relationship with God your first and only priority.

May your day be so filled with the presence of God that you see all your life from His perspective and follow His lead in everything you do.

A Weed or a Wish

You can see the world around you with all it’s colors, faces, places, things and still miss the miracles God is doing in it.

You can hear the world around you with all it’s noise, music, conversations, sounds and still miss what God is saying to you.

It is easy to see the mess, the chaos, the problems, the pollution. It is easy to hear the negative words, the off key singing, the construction zone noise.

It is natural to see all that is wrong and hear all that is loud.

It is supernatural to see all that God is doing and hear all that God is saying in it, above it and around it.

“But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭16‬ NIV)

How you see the world around you makes all the difference in how you experience it.

Ask God to help your eyes really see and your ears to really hear Him today.

Don’t live blind, live blessed.

Cautious Living

When God puts something in your heart,  He has a purpose for it.

He has a purpose for you.

I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.”

“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:25 MSG‬‬

It’s criminal to live cautiously with God-given purpose.

Cautious Living is a crime in God’s eyes.

He loves you passionately and wants you to boldly get to work on the visions, gifts, and callings that He has given you.

You may be asking God to give you more…but He may be asking you, “What are you doing with what I’ve already given you?”

What purpose has God planted in your heart?

What does it look like to multiply what God has invested in you?

Parking Places

Parking places are meant to be a temporary place to stop, not a final destination – you do what you need to do and then get back on the road.

Friend, you are on a life journey with Jesus. Don’t get stuck at a rest stop. Don’t start living at the gas station. Don’t let a parking place become a permanent place.

Get moving.

Remember the reason you were called to this journey in the first place – Jesus has a plan for you.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Don’t get distracted.

Don’t settle.

Jesus has new places for you see, new people to meet and new opportunities to glorify God.

Rest stops are important but aren’t meant to be permanent.

Get back on your road.

What has gotten you off track on your journey with Jesus?

What do you need to do today to get back on the road for the calling God has placed on your life?

Get Moving.

Someone out there needs you.

Don’t Get Distracted.

I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere.
Eph. 4:2 MSG

We all have a path that leads to nowhere in our life. Just to the right, always tempting us to spend some time meandering down a mindless easier way. The settle-for-less path. The this-is-the-best-it’s-ever-going-to-be path.

I am not talking about resting your body or refreshing your spirit. I am not even talking about Facebook or social media. I am talking about the path that distracts from running after what God has called you to.

I know you might not even realize that you are there and that suttle distractions have led you down a road you never meant to travel.

The temptation is to quit when it gets hard. To settle for second or third or worst. To let a mindless distractraction drain your energy and water down your vision. To simply stop pushing back against tension of resistance that forward motion toward the vision of God brings.

No one will notice if you quit, right?

Wrong. God will notice and your world will be impacted. It will be effected by the void of your growth and the loss of your God given gifts in it. They may not know it at the time but everyone will be impacted by it.

Look around- are you going the right way? Are you fighting the good fight or have you given up?

If this is where you find yourself- wake up! It is NEVER to late to turn around and get directions back to where God has called you to be.

If you are getting discouraged because the right road isn’t easy or comfortable- hold on! Keep focused. Press through. Don’t quit.

Those around you are the ones that are most impacted by your decision not to settle.

Don’t get distracted.
