In Love

What drives out fear? Love does.

Don’t believe me? Think back to a time when you were in love with somebody. How bold were you? How much hope did you have for the future? Did you do any crazy things with them because you were in love with them?

Did you know you are loved?

You are loved with a perfect love from a sinless Savior who sacrificed Himself so that you could live unhindered by fear and live in His love.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Jesus came to the earth He created to perfect love. The word perfect here doesn’t mean flawless, it means complete…completed completeness.

Not infatuation, or an exciting feeling (which starts us out) but a deep developed love that stands the test of time and trial.

His was a love that bleeds when the lash tore open His back and the splintered wood of the cross dug into it.

A love that persevered through the unendurable physical and spiritual pain of the cross until He could utter the truth, “it is finished”.

His love has been made completely complete on the cross. The debt of sin has been paid and the great chasm between God and man has been crossed. Why? For you.

When fear rises up to dismantle your faith or weave it’s tentacles around your feet to trip you up, you must remember this fact: You have nothing to fear. You are in love.

Christ took your punishment completely so that you could be immersed in His love.

It is perfect love and in it, you are made whole.

Jesus walked the earth, spoke truth to all who would listen, healed broken bodies and restored broken souls to God. It was His love that breathed life into the first lungs of man and His word that drove the darkness and chaos back before that and it is His love that sets you free to love as freely and completely as you are loved.

What drives fear out?
Love.

The love of Jesus.

Hang your hat on it and get down to the business of loving others with the confident abandon that comes with it.

One Step

We-Must-Trust-And-Obey

God will complete what He started in you. The thing is that you decide how long it takes  for some things to be worked out.

God has begun a good work in you, but if you don’t step out in faith and obey what He has asked of you, the work will not be done…quickly.

If you choose to hold on to bitterness rather than forgive, you lengthen your journey.

If you allow fear to stop you from stepping up and doing what God has called you to do, Jesus won’t leave you. He will walk with you. He will continue to heal you, develop His grace in you. God will continue to bring it before you and put the choice(s) in your hand.

What you choose to do with it, is up to you.

Are there things that God has asked you to do?

Is your lack of obedience causing a holding pattern for His purpose in you?

Many times, God has already given us what we need to grow. He is waiting for us to take the step.

The Word says that God will work in you but He will not walk for you. That is up to you.

“And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”
2 John 1:6 NIV

Go for it!

Even if it is a small thing, obey.

Especially if it is a small thing, obey.

Just take one more step and trust God for each step after.

Chosen

made-by-god

There are other moments of rejection that give you soul scars. Moments that become memories that hide in the silence and shadows of your heart. They feed into the fears of “not worthy” and enable the core insecurities of “not enough”.

God’s Word brings light to the shadows and His voice to the silent places in your heart.

Jesus came to bring to completion the Word spoken in Isaiah:

“For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:9,10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus came to complete it,
to reclaim you,
to reconcile you to God,
has chosen you,
pursued you,
paid for you,
cherishes you,
will not abandon you.

Whispers of rejection will remind you of past rejections. They will taint every relationship and interaction you have.

You fear rejection but Jesus came to empty that word of its crippling power.

He is the God who says to you:

I have chosen you and have not rejected you.”(NIV‬‬)

I’ve picked you. I haven’t dropped you. Don’t panic. I’m with you. ‭‭‬ ‭(MSG‬‬)

‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: Fear not, for I am with you;” (‭NKJV‬‬)

Jesus will whisper this truth to you every day, in every way He can until you will believe it, embrace it and live in it.

YOU ARE HIS.
YOU ARE CHOSEN.

Sorry for yelling at you but you haven’t been listening.

Listen and believe.

Reread if necessary.

What Drives Out Fear?

Love does. Perfect love from a sinless Savior who sacrificed Himself so that you could live unhindered by fear and wholly in His love.

When You Feel Like Giving Up

When you feel like giving up, don’t.
There are gifts that only come by facing the hard things.
There is growth that only comes from holding onto God through the toughest times.
There is maturity that only develops as you persevere when everything around you is uncomfortable, difficult and hard.
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4 NIV)
Don’t give up.
Hold on to Jesus like He is your Savior and let perseverance complete you.
If you quit halfway through you will never know what God has for you.  He has a plan to complete you, to bring you to wholeness, to bring the parts that are broken and disconnected together knitted by His grace restored by His strength completed by His love.
Don’t quit. Buckle down, hold on and keep working.
You are worth it.

To Love

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4:11, 12 NIV)

Have you ever had someone give you their full attention? They completely stop what they are doing, look you in the eye and listen to understand.

In the age of information and infinite distractions, giving someone your full attention is a gift of love.

It is the gift God gives to you in love and it is a gift he asks you to give in love.

Be an authentic listener and ask God to show you who needs the gift of your full attention today.
