Cautious Living

When God puts something in your heart,  He has a purpose for it.

He has a purpose for you.

I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.”

“The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:25 MSG‬‬

It’s criminal to live cautiously with God-given purpose.

Cautious Living is a crime in God’s eyes.

He loves you passionately and wants you to boldly get to work on the visions, gifts, and callings that He has given you.

You may be asking God to give you more…but He may be asking you, “What are you doing with what I’ve already given you?”

What purpose has God planted in your heart?

What does it look like to multiply what God has invested in you?

The Incessant Whispers of Envy

img_8386

Envy is the lie at the heart of comparison.

It whispers with an incessant voice:

“you are not enough”,
“you don’t have enough”,
“you could be enough if only….”

Envy robs you of enjoying what you do have and who God has created you to be.

When you believe the lie of envy, you immediately trade abundant life for an abundant lie.

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God does not envy. He has everything, he is everything. He is not lacking in any area and he has made all his resources available to you in Christ.

In Christ, you are enough. You are embraced, loved, cherished, equipped, empowered and complete. You have been given access to all that is in God in Jesus.

God’s plan for your life is not to be consumed by envy.

Confess it, take it to the cross, leave it there.

Begin to walk in the fullness of who you are in Christ and leave the emptiness of envy at the cross today.

Don’t waste another second on it.

Be You

John the Baptist faithfully fulfilled what God had called him to do without looking to others in envy or for acceptance.  More than once John was asked if he was the Messiah.
He replied with this:
A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:27-28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
John the Baptist knew who he was and he knew who he wasn’t – he was not Jesus.
Reminder: There is only one Savior,  Jesus Christ.
You are not tasked with saving people, that is His job and He is good at it.
Your job is to faithfully point people to Jesus.
Knowing who you are and who you are not is vital in carrying out your own God-given assignment.
When God lays a burden on your heart, it will always be bigger than you and it will be something only He can do through you.
Pride burdens you with a sense of importance that only you can fulfill.
Pride traps you in perpetual misery about all the things you can’t do and about all the gifts you don’t have. Humility sets you free to do what God has called you to do without looking to others in envy or for acceptance.
You are called to faithfully fulfill the assignment God has given you without trying to be someone you are not or function in gifts God has not given you.
John the Baptist held tight to the attitude that defined his life:
“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:30‬ ‭NLT‬‬
It is all about Jesus.
Be honest with others about who you are and point people to Jesus.
Be who God made you to be and endeavor to fulfill what God has called you to do.
What have you been given from heaven to do?
Are you doing it?

Embrace Your Uniqueness

“By an act of faith, he lived in the country promised him, lived as a stranger camping in tents. Isaac and Jacob did the same, living under the same promise.”

Hebrews 11: 9 MSG

God broke the mold when He created you.

There is no one else on earth exactly like you and God is calling you to do something as unique as you are. Others may have similar gifts and callings but you have a place that only you can fill.

Comparison sabotages your journey and envy can outright destroy it.

To truly begin to walk in your destiny, you are going to have to accept that you are never going to fit in.

God didn’t create you to fit in and doesn’t expect you to. In fact, He is calling you to stand up and stand out.

God didn’t call Abraham to go to the new country and blend in, he called Abraham to live like a stranger in a strange land. He is calling you to do the same.

Embrace your unique calling and quit trying to fit in.

Be unique.

Stop comparing yourself to others.

Be bold in what God is calling you to do.

Love Is Not

Love is not envious.

Envy is the lie at the heart of comparison.

It whispers with an incessant voice:

“you are not enough”,
“you don’t have enough”,
“you could be enough if only….”

Envy robs you of enjoying what you do have and who God has created you to be.

God does not envy. He has everything, he is everything. He is not lacking in any area and he has made all his resources available to you.

Envy is lie. When you believe it, you trade abundant life for an abundant lie.

You have been created to love and be loved. Any place of envy is robbing you of that.

What are you envious of?

Confess it, let it go and open your eyes to see the abundance God has blessed you with.
