An Act of Faith

Wednesday

“By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going.”

Hebrews 11:8 MSG

God has a rich inheritance waiting to be claimed by you today.

It is the inheritance of an unhindered relationship with Him. One where you are free to trust, risk, follow, and be used by God to bless others in ways you can’t even imagine.

Abraham left his country behind to go after His God-given destiny.

My friend, God is not calling you to physically leave where you are but I know He is calling you spiritually, emotionally, or mentally into a new place of faith.

To get where God has called you, you have to leave the place you are in.

He is calling you today by leaving the shelter of some strategic comfort zones that have been keeping you stuck right where you are:

  1. life as you know it
  2. habits that hold you hostage
  3. mindsets that mold your world

The good news is that for every comfort zone you step out of, Jesus has a promise for you to step into and His love to guide you.

God is calling you to an unknown place that will become your home. More than a new plot of land, it is a new way of life.

May your courage grow as you bravely choose to step out of your strategic comfort zones one “act of faith” at a time.

What “way of life” needs to go by the wayside today?

What habit is holding you hostage?

What mindset is holding you back from going after what God has called you to?

Mistake Making

images-6
When you step out in faith and put yourself out there, life will push back.
It’s not going to be easy and you will make mistakes.
A mistake means that you are trying,
so pick yourself up off the ground and try again.
Do something new.
Relate to people in a new way.
Reach out beyond your comfort zone.
Take that step of faith …again.
Risk failure.
Failure is not fatal.
Jesus told a story about this very thing:
“The servant given one thousand said, ‘Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent…’
The Master was furious…
Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most.
And get rid of this ‘play-it-safe’ who won’t go out on a limb.”
Matthew 25: 24,26,30 MSG
You will never get anywhere if you run back to what you know at every challenge.
God is calling you to grow. To take what He has given you and invest it.
My friend, get out there and make a lot of new mistakes, get out of your comfort zone, risk and invest what God has placed in your hands. You don’t have to play it safe with the love and grace of God – He has more than enough for you to give it away freely and without fear.

Your Destiny Is Waiting…

…right outside of your comfort zone.

“By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going.”

Hebrews 11: 8 MSG

God has a destiny for you. He has a rich inheritance waiting to be claimed.  An inheritance of unhindered relationship with Him. One where you are free to trust, risk, follow and be used by God to bless others in ways you can’t even imagine.

However, you can not fully take hold of it until you break out of your comfort zones: life as you know it, habits that hold you, mindsets that have molded you.

To get where God has called you, you have to leave the place you are in.

Abraham left his country behind and you are going to have to leave the shelter of some strategic comfort zones in order to go after your own God-ordained inheritance.

The good news is that for every comfort zone you step out of, Jesus has a promise for you to step into and His love to guide you.

God is calling you to an unknown place that will become your home. More than a new plot of land, it is a new way of life.

What “way of life” needs to go by the wayside today?

What mindset is holding you back from going after what God has called you to?

What are you afraid of?

Goals

images-5

The important thing about goals is not just having one, but having the right ones.

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ NIV

Don’t waste your life going after goals to make yourself more comfortable.

Go after Jesus– his love, his agenda, his goals for your life (which has more to do with who you are than what you look like and giving more than getting).

Life following Jesus is not comfortable or easy. It is unique, unexpected and adventurous.

At the end of your life, you may or may not have human praise and awards. What you will have is rich relationships, miraculous moments and the most important thing you can have with you as you step into eternity – Jesus.

The prize.

Keep this goal in your soul and all the other goals will quickly fall into their proper perspective.

Go after Jesus and make your relationship with him the main goal of your life. With Jesus at the top, the other goals fall in their right place or fall off the grid completely.

May you clearly hear his voice, boldly follow his guidance and passionately pursue his heart in all things today.

Happy Friday, my friend!

Start Now

img_6904

You can start now.

You don’t have to wait for the right conditions in your life or until you have more time or money.

You don’t have to wait until you are stronger or smarter or better behaved.

The grace God has given you has nothing to do with how strong or smart or well behaved you are but you have it nonetheless. It is yours.

Grace that allows you to change, grace that inspires you to change.

Grace that gives you strength and wisdom and impacts you now.

“God’s readiness to give and forgive is now public. Salvation’s available for everyone!

We’re being shown how to turn our backs on a godless, indulgent life, and how to take on a God-filled, God-honoring life.

This new life is starting right now, and is whetting our appetites for the glorious day when our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, appears.

He offered himself as a sacrifice to free us from a dark, rebellious life into this good, pure life, making us a people he can be proud of, energetic in goodness.”

‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This grace has been bought by the blood of Christ and applied to your life now.

The same grace that saves you for all eternity transforms your life today.

Starting now, you can begin to live differently, think differently, love differently.

Starting now, you can live the life God has shown you, the life you have been reborn in Christ to live.

Not tomorrow, or later-when-everything-is-easier but today.

Don’t wait for one more second to live in the grace God sacrificed to give you.

Start Now.

Risk It.

No Matter What

No matter what comes your way, what changes in your season, what challenges arise, God is working.

You look at your circumstances and wonder how you will survive.

God looks at your circumstances and sees opportunities to make you stronger, wiser, more faithful, more peaceful.

To open up new doors, initiate new relationships, show you how to get out of your comfort zones.

It is a good work. It is a deep work. It is a real transforming sanctifying work.

It is His work. It is grace realized.

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)

No matter what is happening around you God will use it to work in you.

What does God want to do in you today?

What is He strengthening in you today?

How is His Grace working in your life today?

Uncomfortable

God will keep you accountable to live according to your full potential in Him. Not as a punishment but as a part of a thriving relationship of love. Because He loves you, He will challenge you.

He will challenge your status quo.

He will challenge you to get out of your comfort zones and when your uncomfortable zone becomes comfortable- He will call you out …again.

“You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living. “(‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ MSG)

“We need to get comfortable with God making us uncomfortable”
– Shelene Bryan

Sloppy living isn’t about appearance or how your like looks, it is about how your living your life.

Sloppy living is when you have stopped risking and reaching and are shrinking back and self-protecting.

Sloppy living is settling when you are called to soar and delegating the Great Commission to others instead of doing it yourself.

You are not called to live a comfortable life, you have been called to share the gospel of life.

You have been called to go.

You have been called to be.

If you think that God is calling you out of your comfort zone- He IS.

It’s time to get comfortable with the uncomfortable (not to mention abundant) life with God you are called to live.

The Pull of Grace

IMG_0056
We tend to gravitate to comfortable places inside and out. We return to what we know and go back to where we have always been.

But the pull of grace is that is draws us to trust, to risk and step beyond what we have always known and into what God knows.

He knows that you can do more than you thought, that you are stronger than you feel and that there are untapped talents lying dormant within you.

Do you feel the pull?

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭23‬ NLT)

You may be venturing into unknown territory and uncomfortable terrain but if you are drawn there by God’s grace then you will also be equipped with His power to accomplish it.

Comfort Zones

IMG_0049

Your comfort zone is when you do what you have always done.

When you go where you have always gone and see the same people you always see.

But then Jesus walks into your life and whispers “follow me” and He leads you right out of your comfort zone.

He leads you to go to new places and to see different people.

He leads you to learn new things and deal with new situations.

We like being comfortable and dealing with the familiar. But comfortable and familiar doesn’t always mean your where God wants you to be.

Sometimes He calls you away from the job you’ve always known and the identity you have got from it.

Sometimes He calls you out from behind the desk you have always sat at and challenges you to use gifts you didn’t know you had.

Sometimes, He answer prayer in ways you never expect and walks with you through things you could not have anticipated.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, (‭Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭27‬ NIV)

Your job isn’t to create a new job, or develop a new coping mechanism or try to forge a new identity.

Your job is to follow Jesus right out of your comfort zone and allow Him to forge you into the person He created you to be.

What comfort zone is God calling you out of?
