Called to Step Out

“By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God’s call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going.”

Hebrews 11:8 MSG

God is calling you to step out of your comfort zone today.

To get where God has called you, you have to leave the place you are.

Maybe God is calling you to leave the shelter of some strategic comfort zones:

  1. life as you know it
  2. habits that hold you hostage
  3. mindsets that mold your world

The good news is that for every comfort zone you step out of, Jesus has a promise for you to step into and His love to guide you.

God has a rich inheritance waiting to be claimed by you.

It is the inheritance of an unhindered relationship with Him every day.

It is more than a new plot of land, in Jesus, it is a new way of life.

Abraham left his country behind to go after his God-given destiny.

May your courage grow as you bravely choose to step out of your strategic comfort zones one “step of faith” at a time.

What “way of life” needs to go by the wayside today?

What habit is holding you hostage?

What mindset is holding you back from going after what God has called you to?

Detours

The road before you may look different than you expected.

You have been detoured and are not sure where the detour will take you.

Don’t worry, God does.

He knows what lies before you and His plan for you will not be destroyed by the detour. It only means that it may take a little longer to get to God’s destination for you, but you will get there.

Through Jesus, this promise is for you:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Isaiah 43:1-2 NIV

Do not fear.

God is not suggesting it. He is not asking you to consider it, He is not giving it to you as an option… it is a command: Do not fear.

You are a chosen, treasured child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross for you. God has called you out of the place you have been and planted you in a new place.

A new place that has new possibilities, new problems, new opposition to face and new victories to experience. Not one of these things is meant to be handled all by yourself. You are not alone, God is with you.

Rest today in His grace and mercy – He has an endless supply for you to use.

Your Call

Friday
John the Baptist faithfully fulfilled what God had called him to do without looking to others in envy or for acceptance.  More than once John was asked if he was the Messiah.
He replied with this:
A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:27-28‬ ‭NIV‬‬
John the Baptist knew who he was and he knew who he wasn’t.
Knowing who you are and who you are not is vital in carrying out your own God-given assignment.
When God lays a burden on your heart, it will always be bigger than you and it will be something only He can do through you.
Fear traps you in perpetual anxiety about all the things you can’t do and about all the gifts you don’t have.
Faith in Jesus sets you free to do what He has called you to do without looking to others in envy or for acceptance.
You are called to faithfully fulfill the assignment God has given you without trying to be someone you are not or function in gifts God has not given you.
Live your call.
Use your gifts.
Leave the rest to God.

An Uncomfortable Life

Because Jesus loves you, He will challenge you.

He will keep you accountable to live according to your full potential in Him.

He will challenge your status quo.

He will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and live out there.

And when your uncomfortable zone becomes comfortable- He will call you out …again.

“You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living.
1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ MSG

God loves you just as you are but that same love won’t let you stay that way.

Sloppy living isn’t about appearance or how your life looks to others, it is about how your life looks to God.

Sloppy living is when you have stopped risking and reaching but have shrunk back and self-protected.

Sloppy living is settling when you are called to soar.

Sloppy living is when you have delegated the Great Commission to others instead of doing it yourself.

You are not called to live a comfortable life, you have been called to an abundant life in Christ.

You have been called to go.

You have been called to grow.

If you think that God is calling you out of your comfort zone- HE IS.

It’s time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable and live the life God has created you to live.

What comfort zone is Jesus calling you out of today?

Called to Climb

“When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him.”

Matthew 5:1-2 MSG

Sometimes Jesus calls you to climb with Him.
He draws you away from the noise of the crowds to a quiet place where He can speak to you.
It is a place that you can hear Him clearly with no distractions.
Some mistake these times for loneliness when really God is trying to get your attention.
He wants to show you something.
I don’t love hiking (a.k.a. climbing a mountain) but I know this:
• It forces me out of my comfort zone
• I get to see things I have never seen before
• It causes muscles to form that I never knew existed
• My breathing capacity is expanded and heart is strengthened
Jesus loved the crowds. He taught them, healed them and fed them. But the teaching He was about to give was not for the crowds, it was for the climbers.
When Jesus calls you to climb with Him, you can bet that it is for your benefit.
You can also bet that it isn’t going to be easy.
Nothing worth having comes easy.
When Jesus calls you to climb higher it is to make you stronger.
If you are feeling lost in the crowd, maybe it is because you don’t belong there.
You belong to Jesus and He is calling you higher.
What you learn climbing the mountain with Jesus changes your life in the valley.
What mountain is Jesus calling you to climb with Him today?

You Are

img_2837-1
“I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬
When you have trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior:
You are called.
You are loved.
You are cared for.
You don’t have to strive to take care of “number one” or stress to win the approval of others.
Jesus will walk with you, guide you and bring you back when you wander off.
Accept God’s invitation to live as a cherished child today.
Live loved right now.
Let Jesus take care of you.
May your relationship with Jesus be like the eye of a storm where the uncertainty of this season will swirl around you as the peace of God which passes all understanding guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
How are you living in the invitation of God?
How are you receiving His love?
Are you living like you are cared for or like you have to take care of yourself?

Be You

John the Baptist knew who he was and he knew who he wasn’t – he was not Jesus.
Reminder: There is only one Savior,  Jesus Christ.
You are not tasked with saving people, that is His job and He is good at it.
Your job is to faithfully point people to Jesus.
Knowing who you are and who you are not is vital in carrying out your own God-given assignment.
When God lays a burden on your heart, it will always be bigger than you and it will be something only He can do through you.
Pride burdens you with a sense of importance that only you can fulfill.
Pride traps you in perpetual misery about all the things you can’t do and about all the gifts you don’t have. Humility sets you free to do what God has called you to do without looking to others in envy or for acceptance.
You are called to faithfully fulfill the assignment God has given you without trying to be someone you are not or function in gifts God has not given you.
John the Baptist held tight to the attitude that defined his life:
“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:30‬ ‭NLT‬‬
It is all about Jesus.
Be honest with others about who you are and point people to Jesus.
Be who God made you to be and endeavor to fulfill what God has called you to do.
What have you been given from heaven to do?
Are you doing it?

Equipped to Change

When God gives you a new vision for your life, He will equip you to live it.

When He gives you a new revelation of His relationship with you, He will empower you to experience it.

But new visions and new revelations will always come with a fight.

Whether it is the resistance of your flesh or the stubbornness of old mindsets, you will have to fight for what God has shown you and He will arm you for that as well.

“He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:34-35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My prayer for you today is that you would know His love as He pours His strength into you.

I pray that you would know His peace as you lean on him.

I pray that you would rest in God’s grace as you walk by His guidance.

I pray that you would trust Him with the future and focus simply on the task before you.

I pray that you would be released from the restlessness within you as you receive a new determination to go forward in faith.

You are stronger than you know because you know where your strength comes from and whose Right Hand sustains you.

You have been equipped to change.

Pick your weapons and fight for it.

Stay

” Friends, stay where you were called to be. God is there. Hold the high ground with him at your side.” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬ MSG
If where you are is boring, stay there.
If where you are is overwhelming, stay there.
If where you are is fun, stay there.
If where you are is challenging, stay there.
Stay where God has called to be.
Jesus will give you strength to stand the monotony, wisdom to navigate the stress, clarity to get the most out of the fun and vision to conquer the challenge
Look to God for your identity, purpose and the strength to live it out.
Hold the high ground.
Stay where you are.
