Yes, Rest.

Rest doesn’t have a season.

It isn’t optional.

You need it, every day.

You need rest for your body and for your soul, spirit, and mind.

“Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You need to rest, refresh, recharge in all seasons but especially in the busiest ones.

It isn’t optional.

It’s how God made you and it is the way to optimize the gifts He has given you to fulfill the purpose He has placed before you.

What refreshes your spirit?

What rejuvenates your mind?

What feeds your soul?

Being Aware

8519214242_ba8fb4c27c

“But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:11 MSG‬‬

If you are aware of anything today – be aware of God.

If you are afraid of anything – be afraid of getting so busy making a living that you miss making a life.

If you have to make a do to list – put living in the joy of the Lord #1.

Take care of what you need to take care of today but make room for God to interrupt, intervene and weave His perspective into each thing you must do.

Are you so busy that you are oblivious to God?

What does being aware of God’s presence mean to you?

How can you make that happen?

May the awareness of God supersede all else as you are embraced by a Savior who loves you unconditionally and completely.

Small Offerings

Some of the best of moments of worshipping God is the smallest of them.

They are the offerings of thanksgiving in the unseen simplicity of your daily life.

Little altars of normal and boring and non-important that are precious gifts to the in-the-moment relationship building God.

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Don’t get caught up in the world’s view of important and busy.

God’s definition of important is a daily relationship with you.

You.

When you make the small moments of your everyday endeavors an offering to God, you will discover that having abundant life in Christ isn’t about doing big things for Him but worshipping Him in the small things you do every day.

May today’s mundane moments and unseen duties be filled with sweet worship and small offerings of fellowship with your very present God.

Slow Down

The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, as some think of slowness, but he is patient toward you, not wanting anyone to perish but all to change their hearts and lives. “(2 Peter 3:9 CEB)

Slow down, my friend. I know you are tired and God knows where you are at. In the pursuit of the abundant life, we can mistake more for better. Busy for important. It is important to slow down and take a deep breath. The Lord isn’t slow in keeping His promises and your effort doesn’t hurry it up. He is faithful to complete that which He starts. In fact, sometimes the very best thing to do is rest. Trust. Slow down and look around. We may be impatient to see change, impatient to see the result we desire when we want to see it. Slow down, put yourself and what is weighing heavy on your heart in His Hands. He is patient with you and with others because He sees more than we do, His reach extends ours and His knowledge is not hindered by time or eternity. God knows real change takes time and He is willing to wait.

Rest in Him today and give yourself permission to stop worrying about things you can’t control. In music, the rests are as powerful as the notes to create music.

I’m going to go rest right now, as a matter of fact. Have a great day pursuing God’s best and God’s rest.

I love to hear from you as you pursue God’s plan and purpose for your life. I love and appreciate each comment, text and word of encouragement I receive.
