What Pride Is

Pride is the thing that keeps you from asking for help because you don’t want others to think you have a problem, even if you do.

Pride is the thing that keeps you silent when you should speak because you don’t want to cause trouble or cause a scene even if what you need to say is true.

Pride is the thing that prevents you from reconciling because you are right and being right is more important than a person.

Pride keeps you safe.

Except it doesn’t.

It keeps you isolated.

No matter how many people you have in your life, trying to love them through the lens of pride keeps you disconnected and self protected.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV

You are loved and you are made to love others freely, fully, with hope and joy.

Love is not proud.

Lay down your pride and let love heal what is broken.

On Bravery

You don’t have to be brave unless you are facing something that requires it.

Being brave means that you are facing something that requires more than a step of faith, it requires a walk of faith.

It means not making your decisions based on what is but on what can be.

Being brave means getting up every morning and keeping your word when you don’t want to. Stating your boundaries and holding to them even when you don’t feel like it.

Choosing to believe new truths instead of old lies every day.

That is being brave.

“I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage!”

Joshua 1:9 MSG

Keep going.
Keep believing.
Be brave.

True Peace

What do you think of when you think of having peace?

Do you think of a day without conflict or one without suffering?

I often think that having peace means a day without external noise or internal worry.

“And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!” – John 16:33 TPT

Peace isn’t found in the absence of problems, it is found in the presence of Jesus.

Peace isn’t found in the hope that the world will get it right, it is found in the promise that Jesus already did.

As I write this, the words of an old hymn comes to mind:

“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When darkness hides His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way,

He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne’

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

by Edward Mote, 1834

My friend, no matter what you are facing this Christmas, my prayer for you is that Jesus would be the rock you stand on.

My Personal Bravery

Quotefancy-1176781-3840x2160

“The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army;”

‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

God knows what you are facing today.

He will give you what you need.

He will stand with you, fight for you and pour courage into you so you can to get back up when you fall down.

Worship Him.

Get lost in the music of heaven.

Let Him remind you that you are His.

When you worship, your circumstances don’t change but they will not have the same effect on you. Instead of causing fear to well up, worship will pour out of your heart.

Because you are God’s, your circumstances will not stop you from going forward but they will be a catalyst to your new life in Christ.

Don’t look to the world to give you what you need. They don’t have it.

Look to Jesus.

Ask Him to be your personal bravery and give you strength to climb the heights facing you today.

Have a wonderful day spending time with Jesus and drawing from Him what you need.

Personal Bravery

original

The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]”

‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The Lord will give you what you need today.

He will BE what you need.

God knows what you are facing today.

He stands, fights, pours courage into you so you can to rise up and walk forward.

Worship Him. Get lost in the music of heaven. Remind yourself who God is and that you are His.

Your circumstances may not change but they will not have the same effect on you. They will not cause your heart to swell with fear because it is already filled with the presence of God Himself.

Your circumstances will not stop you from going forward but will be a catalyst to your growing to new heights in Christ.

Don’t look to the world to give you what you need.

Look to Jesus.

Ask him to be your personal bravery and give you strength to face whatever heights you must climb today.

Trust Him. He will give you what you need to do it.

He is good like that.

Have a wonderful day spending time with Jesus and drawing from Him what you need.
