On Bravery

You don’t have to be brave unless you are facing something that requires it.

Being brave means that you are facing something that requires more than a step of faith, it requires a walk of faith.

It means not making your decisions based on what is but on what can be.

Being brave means getting up every morning and keeping your word when you don’t want to. Stating your boundaries and holding to them even when you don’t feel like it.

Choosing to believe new truths instead of old lies every day.

That is being brave.

“I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage!”

Joshua 1:9 MSG

Keep going.
Keep believing.
Be brave.

A Special Kind of Stubborn

Friday

It takes a special kind of stubbornness to start a new thing in your life, to change the course of it. A stubbornness to keep going against the odds and swim against the current.

Life in Christ means that you are being called upon to be a pioneer.

He may be calling you to be the first in your family to break the cycle of unhealthy habits or to break the cycle of emotional or physical abuse. He may be calling you to start a new business to help people that need it or create a home unlike the one you grew up in.

He is asking you to be a pioneer.

But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion. It won’t be long now, he’s on the way; he’ll show up most any minute. But anyone who is right with me thrives on loyal trust; if he cuts and runs, I won’t be very happy. But we’re not quitters who lose out. Oh, no! We’ll stay with it and survive, trusting all the way.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:32-39‬ ‭MSG‬‬

God is asking you to be a change-maker and to be stubborn about it.

Be stubborn about your goals but flexible about your methods.

Jesus never did a miracle the same way.

Each one was different and unique.

Be creative, use what God has given you, and fight for the change you need in your life.

Change worth having is worth fighting for.

Go ahead – be stubborn and courageous today.

Lose Your Limitations

img_7078

Today I want to challenge you to break through the self-imposed limitations you have placed on yourself.

Don’t settle into a place of complacency or sink under the dark cloud of “things will never change”. Neither are from God. In fact, Jesus came to transform how you think and challenge how you see yourself and your future.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus came to give you direct access to a divine perspective founded in unrelenting love and sealed by unbelievable sacrifice.

When you connect to God through Christ, every accepted limitation you have in your life is challenged.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It starts in the mind. God wants to change the way you think.

He wants to challenge your accepted life patterns and limiting thought patterns.

When Jesus challenges how you think, He is challenging how you trust.

He is asking you to follow him into a new place, new ways and a new future that is beyond your capability to comprehend.

What limitation is God challenging you to bust through?

What thought patterns are you living with that are not from God?

What is God asking you to trust Him with today?

Be brave, lose the limitations.

Being Brave

You don’t have to be brave unless you are facing something that requires it.

Being brave means that you are facing something that requires more than a step of faith, it requires a walk of faith.

It means not living by sight, not making your choices and decisions based on what is but on what can be.

Being brave means getting up every morning and keeping your word when you don’t want to. Stating your boundaries and holding to them even when you don’t feel like it. Choosing to believe new truths instead of old lies every day.

That is being brave.

Being brave is choosing to take the leap and then getting to work when your feet hit the ground.

Keep going.
Keep believing.
Keep hoping and trusting God.

“I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage!”

Joshua 1:9 MSG

Don’t lean on your understanding because it can only be based on your past experience. Jesus wants to help you create a new future not help you relive the past.

Trust him.
Look to him for guidance.
Ask him for strength.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do and everywhere you go, he will keep you on track.

He will help you to keep going forward as you are being brave.

Say No

Real freedom isn’t saying yes to everything. It means being able to say no when you need to.

No to the things that sabitoge your peace.

No to the things that undercutt your strength.

No to the thoughts that lead you to that dark place.

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,”
Titus 2:11-13 NIV

It also means saying no to people .

Saying “no” can be hard to say when you have used “yes” for so long to please the people around you.

But you are not here to please the people around you. You have been set free to please God.

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Saying yes to God sometimes means saying no to others.

Say no today out of a place of strength, vision and confidence knowing who you are in Christ.

What or who do you need to say no to today in order to be who God has set you free to be?
