Black Friday

never-stress-over-what-you-cant-control-quote-1

Black Friday has changed over the years and isn’t the mad rush at midnight that it used to be. Black Friday has changed but the stress of the season hasn’t. Today I want to remind you of a few things to help you deal with it:

Be present.

Stay focused on the main goal of this season.

Do what God has given you to do where you are.

Don’t worry about what others are doing or getting.

Don’t wonder where others are going or what others are giving.

Focus on what is important today.

Focus on the why of the season.

“Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things. Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, ‘I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,’ we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”  Hebrews 13:5-6 MSG

Jesus has promised to be with you and is ready to help you in every situation that presents itself to you.

Ask God for help and focus on being present in the present today.

Gifts to Give

Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! ”
1 Corinthians 12:7 MSG

Today is the Grasso’s traditional day to begin the Christmas Shopping mayhem. It is Black  Friday and it seems as if the gift-giving potential skyrockets to the stars with the amazing deals thrown at us from every source.  There is, of course, a budget, a plan and the execution of that plan lead by Bobby Grasso himself.

As the gift-buying season begins, I want to remind you that God has already given you precious gifts to give this year. Gifts unique to you and those gifts are meant to be given.

A great orchestra with a hundred different instruments playing together is great because each individual has grown in, practiced relentlessly and played their own instrument until it is an extension of themselves.

By using the gifts God has given you, the talents of your hands, the strengths of your personality, the driving passion of your heart, God uses you to reveal Himself to others.

It is not a prideful thing to use your gifts for the glory of God, it is a needed thing.

The world needs people who are connected to God, using their gifts so that God is revealed and those people can get connected to God. When people are connected to God they pass from death to life and from darkness to light.  With Him they begin to develop their gifts so that others can get connected to God and pass from death to life… you get the picture.

You may hide your gifts thinking they are not good enough. You may not grow in them because you think you are not good enough. But this isn’t about you, this is about God using your gifts to bring blessings to others through you.

In the midst of gift buying madness, may you not neglect the rich gifts God has given you and give them away freely with love, grace, and joy.

What gifts has God given you?

How are you going to use them to bless someone today?

Have you grown them, practiced them relentlessly and walked in them until they are an extension of who you are to the glory of God?

If not, begin doing it today.

If you have done it before and stopped, begin again today.

Tis the Season

After you recover from the food coma of Thanksgiving and head into the shopping world at large, I wanted to remind you what the season is about.

It really isn’t about shopping, it is about giving.

It isn’t about eating but about celebrating.

It’s not even about what you do for others but about God has done for you and can do through you.

‘Tis the season of crowded spaces, long lines and grumpy people.

In the rushing and the waiting, remember why you are here: to glorify God, let Him transform you and love people.

Serve Christ above all others and try to see the variety of humanity that you encounter through God’s eyes.

“God’s kingdom isn’t a matter of what you put in your stomach, for goodness’ sake.

It’s what God does with your life as he sets it right, puts it together, and completes it with joy.

Your task is to single-mindedly serve Christ.”

(Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭17-18 MSG)

“Joy to the World, the Lord has come.”
