Love in Action

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ NIV

The Greek word for “love” here is agape. It is the description of God.  A love that gives generously, cares first, forgives first, extends endless second chances and never gives up.  It is the word that describes who God is: uncontainable, unrelenting, unending, unchanging LOVE.

Love is heaven’s greatest treasure and earth’s most desperate need.

It is why Jesus came to earth. He brought Himself, then took upon Himself what separates us from receiving this love. Then He rose again to make it available for all who would receive Him.

God has put people in your life that need to see His love in action.

Let God love through you.

Love them authentically, without expecting anything back.

Find a need and fill it for them.

Forgive first, not because they deserve it.

Give them a second chance.

Don’t give up on them and ask God to show you how He sees them.

Love founded in truth and put to action is the most powerful force in the world.

Who has God given you to love?

How are you going to love them today?

Love Them

To Love

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ NIV)

The love spoken of here is that of Agape.

“It describes a love that loves without changing. It is a self-giving love that gives without demanding or expecting re-payment. It is love so great that it can be given to the unlovable or unappealing. It is love that loves even when it is rejected. Agape love gives and loves because it wants to; it does not demand or expect repayment from the love given- it gives because it loves, it does not love in order to receive.”.

– David Guzik

This is who God is and has been most clearly demonstrated by the sacrifice of His sinless Son to the pay the price for the sinner’s sin.

It is the love we are to give and live.

To love authentically.
To give without expecting anything back.
A love so great it can be given to the unloving and unappealing.
A love so strong that gives even when it is rejected.

This is God’s love, not man’s.

It doesn’t come naturally, in fact, it only comes by the supernatural power of God moving through you.

You have been given people to love.

Love them.

Not by words but with action.

Who has God given you to love?

How are you going to love them today?
