Take One Step

18d38712c1576fce8e819e3abdc21c79

Just one.

But make sure that it is a step of faith.

You will never feel more alive than when you take a step of faith.

When you make the call,
Say the words,
Reach out,
Run ahead,
Or slow down.

You do it before you see results,
without assurance of success,
and not knowing where it will take you.

It is a step of faith.

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

James‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬ NIV

The reverse is true as well- every time you let an opportunity pass to put your faith into action, it dies a little bit.

If you are reading this, you are not dead. Neither is your faith.
Put it into action.

How is your faith?

What step of obedience do you need to take today?

Your Way

“Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”
Psalm 37:5  NKJV
Commit your way.
Commit your path, your direction, your next step to God.
To commit is an action, not a choice.
When I commit to a diet, I’m making a decision (That I usually change when a piece of cake presents itself).
When I mail a letter, I’m taking action. I’m letting go. I’m trusting that the postman or woman will get it to where it needs to go.
You can’t mail a letter if you hold on to the edge of it.
To commit your way to the Lord is the same thing – you need to give your way to Him. You are putting the direction, the journey, the destination into His care. The word for commit here means to “roll away”.
To the Lord.
Give your future to God.
Let God have it.
Pry your fingers off the fears you have for your future and give it to Jesus.
Lay down the cherished dreams of a perfect life and roll those over to Jesus as well. Your expectation of a perfect life without pain or heartache is not reality and doesn’t help you deal with it. Those expectations actually trip you up more than your fears do.
Let go.
Trust Jesus.
Focus on your relationship with Jesus and let Jesus focus on your future.
And He shall bring it to pass.
The phrase in English “He shall bring it to pass” is actually just one word in Hebrew,      “asa”.  It means He shall assemble, accomplish, create, produce it. He shall attend to it, bring it about and ordain it. He will bring it to pass.
“And then finally, when you’ve gotten to the place where you can commit your life and the affairs of your life into God’s hands, then you have arrived at the place of that glorious resting in the Lord. ‘God, I’m just resting in You. Whatever comes, Lord. However. It’s in Your hands.”’
Chuck Smith
It is only when I commit my journey (and re-commit it hourly) to the Lord and trust Him to bring it to pass in my life that I am truly free to rest. I am free to discover delight. I am free to focus on doing good where I am instead of carrying the weight of the uncertainty of the unseen future on my shoulders and give it all to God.
I roll it over to Jesus and say, “Here, this is yours. You can take care of it.  I’m Yours and so is my future. Thank you that I don’t have to carry it, worry about it, fret and fight to make it happen. You already have a plan and a purpose for me. Help me to discover it step by step with You”.
How do you deal with an uncertain future?

Love in Action

img_7425-2.jpg

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ NIV

The Greek word for “love” here is agape. It is the description of God.  A love that gives generously, cares first, forgives first, extends endless second chances and never gives up.  It is the word that describes who God is: uncontainable, unrelenting, unending, unchanging LOVE.

Love is heaven’s greatest treasure and earth’s most desperate need.

It is why Jesus came to earth. He brought Himself, then took upon Himself what separates us from receiving this love. Then He rose again to make it available for all who would receive Him.

God has put people in your life that need to see His love in action.

Let God love through you.

Love them authentically, without expecting anything back.

Find a need and fill it for them.

Forgive first, not because they deserve it.

Give them a second chance.

Don’t give up on them and ask God to show you how He sees them.

Love founded in truth and put to action is the most powerful force in the world.

Who has God given you to love?

How are you going to love them today?

Catch a Glimpse

neither-height-nor-depth-nor-anything-else-in-all-creation-will-be-able-to-separate-us-from-the-love-of-god

You are loved with a love so powerful that when you catch a glimpse of it, it changes you. It gives you hope. It makes you want more of God and God wants you to have more of Him too.

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”    James 1:25 MSG

Even a glimpse of God’s love through Jesus for you is powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation in your heart.

Love moves us to action.

So…act on it.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Do what God is asking you to do.

Forgive that person who doesn’t deserve it.

Give that small gift to that person who isn’t expecting it.

Take a walk and ask Jesus to fill you with the truth of His overwhelming love for you with each step you take.

Speak the truth in love.

I didn’t say speak nice to everyone, I said to speak the truth in love. If you really love them, you will tell them the truth.

Really love them.

What is the truth of God’s unearnable, unending love inspiring you to do today?

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.

Grab your glimpse and go after it!

Faith is a Verb

40098_w_780

Faith is not a feeling.

Faith is a  choice.  It is a choice to believe something that leads to doing something.

This is the year to do the thing that faith is prompting and fear is resisting.

To trust God with the impossible.

To put actions to your words.

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything?”

James 2:14 NLT

If God is asking you to do it, He has already given what you need for it.

He has already equipped you for it.

“Faith is taking the first step before you know what the second step is.”

– Joyce Meyers

God is bigger than your fear and has a purpose for your faith.

He needs you to be who He has called you to be and do what He has asked you to do.

It isn’t about you, it is about who your obedience will impact.

It is time to put your faith into action.

What is God challenging you to do this year?

Just A Lil’ Bit

“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

Galatians 5:6 NIV

What counts more than money, things, activities, entertainment or even a clean house?

Faith expressing itself through love.

It is like having a keychain packed full of keys and on it is this really little one, you know, that one random key that you are not sure what it is for but you are afraid to throw it out?

What if on the packed keychain of your life, you find out that there is a key that unlocks a vault where all the richest treasures are stored? You would use it, wouldn’t you?

That key is faith in Jesus expressed through love.

Jesus told His disciples in Luke 17:6 that they didn’t need to have big faith. He said that if they put into action the little faith they did have,  mountains would move.

Just a lil’ bit, that’s all you need.

It’s not the size of your faith but the size of your God.

A tiny bit of a faith, a glimpse of an idea, a crumb of hope, that is all.

Get a little bit of the dream Jesus has for you, add love and put it into action.

Take a little bit of hope in his power, add a pinch of faith and do something.

When you are at that place where it seems a positive change is more like turning the Titanic than turning a key, get with Jesus.

If you need faith for your situation, He will let you use His.

If you need to remember the dream, ask God, He dreamt it first.

If you need hope and a bit of encouragement, He is the God of all hope.

You just need a little bit to start with.

What is the Lord’s vision for your life today?

What can you do with the little faith you have?

How will you express it through love today?

Just Do It

“But whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God—the free life!—even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it, is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. That person will find delight and affirmation in the action.”
(James 1:25 MSG)

You don’t have to have the whole plan to implement what God has shown you.

Even a glimpse of what God wants for your life can be powerful enough to start an avalanche of transformation.

Action trumps intention every time.

Intentions do not lead to freedom, actions do.

Intentions do not bring joy and blessings, actions do.

Intention does nothing for you or those around you, actions do.

Act on it.

Make that phone call.

Ask that person for forgiveness.

Give that small gift.

Take a walk.

Speak the truth…in love.

It doesn’t have to be big, it just has to be done.
